Role description:Arcadis is seeking an
Office Engineer to join our Water Division as part of our construction management team on construction projects within the NYC Metropolitan Area. Two or more years of experience is preferred, but not a prerequisite for strong self-motivated candidates.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. As an Office Engineer, you will develop experience and technical knowledge of municipal infrastructure, and general building projects to successfully execute and manage programs under the supervision of the Assistant Project Manager and help us build and grow our practice.
You will play a key role in supporting the firm's day-to-day construction oversight activities which will involve assisting resident engineer and inspection efforts on a municipal construction contract to build a new boiler building at a multi building NYCHA housing development in Brooklyn, NY.
Role accountabilities:Contractor OversightIn this position you will function as a submittal coordinator and liaison between design staff and contractor for the review and processing of shop drawings and act as a liaison to design staff to respond to contractors' RFIs. You will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on construction progress and contractor's compliance with quality and safety requirements; this includes but is not limited to review and technical evaluation of contractors' documentation and construction work for compliance with the design drawings and specifications.
InspectionYou will be expected to interact with other consultants to schedule on-site special inspection and asbestos abatement monitoring services and resulting reports. Monthly record keeping in the form of reviewing consultant invoices for completeness and accuracy along with meeting agendas and minutes, general correspondence, compiling and drafting of required reports and deliverables are expected. You may also be asked to fill-in for inspectors as required.
AdministrationYou will be asked to review and process various construction permits for regulatory compliance and handle construction change order management which will include quantity take-off, cost estimating, and negotiations.
Qualifications & Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
- 2 years of experience
Preferred Qualifications: - Prior experience as a project/office engineer with both technical and administrative duties
- Proficiency with web-based construction document control programs such as Trimble Unity Construct (eBuilder)
- Professional licensure such as an EIT
- OSHA 10 Construction Safety Training
- Experience with NYCDOB permitting
- Experience with NYCHA
