Location: Miramar FL 33027, Dallas TX 75254, Washington DC, Minnesota, Atlanta GA
Duration: 12 months/contract to Hire

Must be able to come onsite as needed.

Role is 100% remote, but candidates must live within commuting or reasonable travel distance of one of client’s five hubs and be able to come onsite as needed.

Conversion timing may vary from approximately four months to one year, depending on candidate fit, department needs, budget, and organizational timing.

Team and leadership

Small development team of approximately four developers, including this hire.

The team needs someone who can adapt, pivot, and take ownership across changing priorities.

Technical focus

Approximately 90% backend development and 10% frontend.

Core environment: AWS, Node.js, and Lambda.

The team builds AWS backend services using relatively standard AWS services.

Frontend work supports internal administrative tools. Candidates do not need deep design, Figma, or pixel-perfect UI experience.

Candidates should be able to review AI-generated frontend code and identify when it is producing something incorrect or unusual.

Experience implementing and consuming events is valuable because this person will backfill a former Kafka-focused team member.

Kafka architecture or theory is not required. Practical experience producing, consuming, or implementing event-driven solutions is the relevant background.

Security and CIAM experience are not mandatory based on the discussion.

Strong AWS and Node.js experience are the primary technical requirements.

Agentic development expectations

The team is moving toward an agentic development experience and expects engineers to use AI-assisted development tools to improve speed and productivity.

Strong candidates should:

Be comfortable reviewing and validating AI-generated code.

Use AI tools as an accelerator while maintaining engineering judgment.

Treat AI as a productivity tool rather than a threat.

Be able to explain and defend the architecture and code they produce.

Candidates who reject AI-assisted development outright may not align well with the team’s direction.

Recruiter screening priorities

Important:

The strongest profile is a senior-level full stack engineer whose recent work is heavily focused on Node.js, AWS, and Lambda, with practical event-driven development experience, strong communication skills, and demonstrated comfort using AI-assisted coding tools. Frontend experience should be sufficient for internal administrative tools but does not need to be highly specialized.

Manager Must Haves:

• 10+ years of software development experience with strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and backend systems.

• Node.js for backend and cloud services.

• Proven experience with AWS services, including EC2, ECS, Lambda, S3, Cognito, and CloudWatch for building secure, scalable cloud solutions.

• Strong experience in Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration in cloud environments.

• In-depth knowledge of Microservices architecture, MFEs, and module federation to build scalable, distributed platforms.

• Experience in securing distributed platforms with CIAM, authentication/authorization, and data protection best practices.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Advanced AWS Cloud Expertise: Extensive experience with AWS services, including EC2, ECS, S3, Lambda, Cognito, and CloudWatch for optimizing cloud infrastructure and implementing secure, high-performance platforms.

• Micro Frontend and Module Federation: Strong understanding of Micro Frontend architectures and module federation patterns to enable scalable, modular digital platforms.

• Security and CIAM: Deep knowledge of CIAM (Customer Identity and Access Management) systems such as AWS Cognito, with expertise in authentication, authorization, and data protection for distributed systems.

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency in using Terraform or similar IaC tools for managing cloud infrastructure, promoting consistency and automation in deployments.

• API Development and Microservices: Expertise in developing scalable RESTful APIs and microservices architectures, with an emphasis on security, performance, and scalability.

• Performance Optimization: Experience in monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing platform performance using tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana.

Education
