Role Overview
We are seeking a Technical Specialist to support the delivery of a major modernization effort for a state government agency. The specialist will drive technical execution, manage risks, and ensure the solution is ready for implementation. This position requires deep knowledge of existing systems and the ability to collaborate across technical teams, vendors, and program leadership. This role will directly support the project's Technical Lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate day-to-day technical execution across all modernization workstreams, including data conversion, Azure environment buildout, integrations, technical design, testing, and customer-facing components.
- Identify technical risks, issues, and dependencies; develop mitigation plans and ensure timely resolution.
- Ensure integrations, interfaces, and cloud environments are fully prepared for deployment.
- Partner with the modernization vendor's technical manager to validate the readiness of all solution components.
- Represent the state technical team in vendor meetings and confirm alignment with established technical standards.
- Work closely with internal teams, field operations, and external partners to ensure technical alignment and timely issue resolution.
- Participate in program meetings to communicate technical decisions, risks, and status.
- Ensure the creation, approval, and storage of required technical documentation such as designs, test plans, conversion plans, and runbooks.
- Support knowledge-transfer activities to ensure state teams can sustain the solution post-implementation.

This position is for candidates local to the Triangle region of North Carolina. The candidate will need to come on-site on the first day to collect equipment. The role may require on-site attendance when business needs warrant in-person participation, such as for scheduled meetings or other task-specific activities.
