We are partnering with a large, enterprise-scale organization in the retail and consumer technology space to identify a skilled Development Engineer. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software solutions that support complex, high-volume systems. This opportunity is ideal for an engineer who thrives in agile environments and enjoys working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, business-critical solutions.

Job Description
This role is hands-on and focused on full-cycle software development, from design through testing and delivery. You will work from a prioritized product backlog and collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and security partners to ensure solutions meet business and technical requirements.
Responsibilities include:
  • Develop, test, and deliver clean, maintainable code aligned with business objectives
  • Implement features and enhancements based on user stories and product backlog priorities
  • Participate in sizing and estimating user stories
  • Write unit tests, create automated test scripts, and execute functional and acceptance testing
  • Validate deliverables against defined acceptance criteria
  • Complete required project and technical documentation
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, product owners, and partner teams to ensure solutions meet business needs
  • Follow agile software development methodologies and industry best practices
  • Work with infrastructure, security, and platform teams to ensure system reliability and performance

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • 5–9 years of overall software development experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in an engineering role
  • Hands-on experience with Kotlin and Micronaut
  • Experience developing, testing, and deploying backend services or APIs
  • Strong understanding of agile development practices, including user stories and iterative development
  • 1–3 years of experience working within an agile/Scrum environment
  • Experience writing unit tests and automated test scripts
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within large-scale enterprise environments
  • Familiarity with internal enterprise infrastructure platforms (advantageous)
  • Experience collaborating with infrastructure, security, or DevOps teams
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
