Large Banking Client

Position: Network Security Engineer

Location: Remote

Duration: 3+ month contract; Potential for extension or full-time conversion

Job Responsibilities:

Plan and implement enterprise networks and related hardware and software.

Perform assessments on existing technologies to determine performance and capacity gaps.

Establish security (firewalls, intrusion detection), connectivity and access parameters.

Provide recommendations to optimize network infrastructure.

Test and tune security devices and systems.

Program routers and switches.

Implement communications technologies (data or voice).

Manage network services from planning phase through implementation.

Solid knowledge of routing protocols, network hardware and software, security technologies and network infrastructure is required.

Must-Have Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in Network Security, with a strong focus on firewall governance, operations, and remediation.
• Hands-on experience managing and reviewing firewall rule bases (e.g., Palo Alto, Check Point, Cisco ASA/Firepower, Fortinet).
• Strong understanding of network security controls, firewall policies, rule lifecycle management, and access governance.
• Experience supporting audit remediation activities, including evidence collection, documentation, issue tracking, and action-item closure.
• Proven ability to perform firewall rule reviews, rule recertifications, cleanup initiatives, and rule-set optimization.
• Experience analyzing firewall rules for compliance, security risks, and operational effectiveness.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify remediation opportunities and drive them to completion.
• Experience working with regulatory, audit, risk, and compliance teams to address findings and meet remediation deadlines.
• Knowledge of automation, scripting, or AI-assisted security operations is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and ticketing/tracking platforms such as ServiceNow or Jira.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
