Description

The Staff Electrical Engineer will work on project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments across the refining, midstream, chemical, and renewable market sectors. The Staff Electrical Engineer will support and lead portions of project execution throughout design and construction, coordinating with project managers, multidisciplinary teams, clients, and vendors while adapting electrical plans according to budget constraints, design factors, applicable codes and standards, and client needs.
  • Perform electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Modify and review production drawings for power, process, pipeline, refining, midstream, chemical, renewable, and other heavy industrial facilities.
  • Design electrical components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.
  • Apply working knowledge of electrical engineering and design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures, including applicable industry standards such as NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, API, ANSI, and NEMA.
  • Research and compile project-related data as required by the project managers.
  • Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD-related software.
  • Compile information for client presentations, equipment specifications, vendor document reviews, shop drawing reviews, construction support, and contract administration for design projects.
  • Support or lead electrical project execution activities, including coordination of design deliverables, interdisciplinary reviews, client coordination, vendor interface, and construction-phase support.
  • Performs field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program and a minimum of 3 years (4 years highly preferred) of related electrical engineering experience in oil, gas, chemical, refining, midstream, pipeline, renewable, or other heavy industrial facilities.
  • May also have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam with a minimum of 3 years (4 years highly preferred) of related electrical engineering experience, OR a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering and 3 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Consulting experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with medium-voltage power distribution systems, electrical equipment specifications, switchgear, motor control centers, transformers, protective relays, and electrical distribution design is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, API, ANSI, NEMA, and similar client or industry requirements.
  • Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required, or ability to obtain EIT certification within 6 months of hire. Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to pursue PE licensure preferred.
