Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Test Analyst for a Hybrid opportunity (2-3 days/wk onsite) , with a weekly commute to Sacramento, California, supporting a large-scale technology modernization initiative. This role will provide hands-on leadership across test planning, execution, defect management, requirements traceability, data validation, and automated testing.
The ideal candidate brings extensive experience testing complex enterprise applications and legacy modernization initiatives within large organizations. This individual should be comfortable coordinating business, functional, and technical testing teams, working directly with large databases and SQL, managing defects through resolution, and providing clear testing metrics and reporting to project leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Test Planning & Execution
- Lead and coordinate business, functional, and technical testing activities across complex enterprise technology initiatives.
- Establish test execution goals, objectives, schedules, priorities, and testing processes.
- Develop, review, and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, and test cases.
- Support testing throughout the technical implementation and modernization of legacy applications.
- Coordinate testing activities across multiple project teams and stakeholders to ensure appropriate coverage and successful execution.
- Monitor testing progress and proactively identify risks, dependencies, and issues that may impact project delivery.
Defect Management & Reporting
- Lead the end-to-end defect management lifecycle, including defect identification, validation, documentation, follow-up, solution verification, and escalation.
- Coordinate with business and technical teams to prioritize and resolve defects.
- Produce and communicate test execution and defect metrics, including burndown charts, trends, status reporting, and testing progress.
- Provide project leadership with clear visibility into testing status, outstanding defects, risks, and readiness.
Requirements & Traceability
- Review, develop, and provide input into critical project deliverables and artifacts, including:
- Business Requirements and Business Rules
- Technical and Service Requirements
- Test Strategies and Test Plans

- Traceability Matrices
- Maintain full requirements-to-test traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
- Validate that functional and non-functional requirements are appropriately represented and tested.
Test Lifecycle Management
- Utilize Test Application Lifecycle Management tools such as JAMA to document and manage requirements, design specifications, test cases, defects, and traceability.
- Maintain accurate testing documentation and ensure testing artifacts remain current throughout the project.
- Support reporting and auditability through comprehensive requirements and testing traceability.
Database & SQL Testing
- Perform hands-on testing involving large and complex databases.
- Write and execute SQL queries to identify, retrieve, analyze, and validate application and interface data.
- Perform data validation to support application, integration, interface, and end-to-end testing activities.
- Investigate data-related defects and collaborate with technical teams to identify root causes.
Test Automation
- Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated testing using frameworks such as Selenium, Cucumber, and ROBOT Framework.
- Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency and repeatability through automation.
- Integrate automated testing into broader test strategies and execution processes.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience within the last 12 years working as a Test Analyst with large organizations, including experience leading or participating in technical implementations or legacy application modernization.
- 10+ years of experience within the last 12 years reviewing, developing, and/or contributing to project deliverables and artifacts, including requirements, test strategies, test plans, test cases, transition plans, and traceability matrices.
- 8+ years of experience within the last 12 years using Test Application Lifecycle Management tools such as JAMA to manage functional/non-functional requirements, design specifications, test cases, defects, and project traceability.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience within the last 12 years working with large databases and writing SQL queries to retrieve and validate data for application or interface testing.
- Strong experience coordinating business, functional, and technical testing teams.
