Summary

Job Description | Network Engineer II
  • Works under the direction of assigned manager and is responsible for designing computer networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), internet, intranet, cloud, data center and other communications systems.
  • Performs administration and implementation tasks for the organization's network infrastructure, including wired, wireless, and voice connectivity.
  • Responds to requests for installation, administration, and support of network components and systems.
  • Provides technical support for network issues, network analysis, installation, configuration, and support.
  • Coordinates and makes assignments for the current and future requirements of assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Implements and provides guidance related to processes and policies.
  • Creates and maintains network documentation, including scopes of work, diagrams, processes, and test plans.
  • Monitors network performance and investigates problems and outages to resolution.
  • Evaluates and recommends solutions that are feasible, cost effective, compatible, and consistent with the department and organization's strategic goals.
  • Researches, plans, tests, and supports the implementation of various business and technical solutions.
  • Works with network engineers and/or vendor support to reduce network service disruption.
  • Performs network modeling, analysis, and planning for the enterprise.
  • Incorporates security best practices in network design implementation.

This position will be in the office, will require travel to the various city locations in personal vehicle, and will be included on the on-call rotation for support.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and four (4) years of networking experience; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.
  • Working technical knowledge in network automation and network design is preferred.
  • Working knowledge in Enterprise Wireless Technology (preferably Aruba).
  • Working knowledge in Extreme Networks (Extreme Routing and Switching, Extreme VSP) is a plus
