IT Program Manager - Healthcare Hospital Integration (M&A)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced IT Program Manager to lead the successful integration of IT systems, applications, and infrastructure in support of a major healthcare provider acquisition.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare IT and proven experience managing complex integration programs resulting from mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
This role will serve as the central point of coordination for all IT integration activities, ensuring a seamless transition while minimizing disruption to clinical and business operations. The Program Manager will oversee the integration of Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR), clinical and business systems, data, and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive IT integration strategy and roadmap, covering all phases from due diligence through post-merger stabilization
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the end-to-end IT integration program, ensuring alignment to business objectives
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for successful program delivery

Program & Workstream Management

  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional IT teams, including:
    • Infrastructure
    • Applications
    • Data management
    • Cybersecurity
  • Oversee domain-level project managers responsible for key workstreams:
    • EHR/EMR integration
    • Network and infrastructure integration
    • Application rationalization

EHR / Application Integration

  • Manage integration of EHR/EMR systems, addressing:
    • System compatibility
    • Data interoperability
    • Clinical workflow impacts
  • Oversee integration of clinical and business applications, ensuring continuity of care and operations

Data Migration & Integrity

  • Lead data migration efforts across all systems
  • Ensure accuracy, security, and integrity of patient and business data
  • Establish data validation, reconciliation, and governance processes

Planning, Budget & Governance

  • Develop and maintain detailed program plans, including:
    • Milestones
    • Dependencies
    • Critical paths
  • Manage program budget and financials, including tracking time and materials
  • Provide regular status reporting to executive leadership and governance forums

Risk & Issue Management

  • Identify, assess, and proactively manage program risks and issues
  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies to avoid delays and cost overruns

Stakeholder & Communication Management

  • Serve as the primary liaison between:
    • Technical teams
    • Clinical leadership
    • Executive stakeholders
  • Deliver clear, regular updates on program progress, risks, and key decisions

Compliance & Regulatory

  • Ensure all IT integration activities comply with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA
  • Maintain adherence to security, privacy, and audit requirements

Change Management & Adoption

  • Lead change management and communication strategies
  • Support end-user adoption while minimizing disruption to patient care and workflows

Vendor Management

  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors and consultants
  • Ensure alignment with program timelines, deliverables, and quality standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or related field
  • 7-10+ years of IT program management experience, leading large-scale, complex initiatives
  • Proven experience managing IT integration programs for mergers & acquisitions, preferably in healthcare environments
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • EHR/EMR systems
    • Clinical and business applications
    • Healthcare IT ecosystems

Core Competencies

  • Deep understanding of data migration and systems integration within healthcare environments
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance and regulations (HIPAA)
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with ability to engage executive leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to manage:
    • Budgets
    • Timelines
    • Resources
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large-scale healthcare M&A integrations
  • PMP, PgMP, or other project/program management certifications
  • Experience working in complex, multi-system healthcare environments
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Piscataway, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $87.84 - $94.59/hr.
