While this position is based in Texas, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with our local and national teams to expand our ports and maritime practice. - Lead structural design from the conceptual phase through design completion for projects with a focus on marine structures, including piers, wharfs, bulkheads, fender systems and other related structures.
- Apply expert knowledge of commonly used structural concepts, practices, codes and procedures.

- When necessary, collaborate with managers, marketing staff and other Burns & McDonnell Global Practices to identify and analyze business development opportunities that are strategically aligned with company's objectives.
- When possible, identify target clients for Burns & McDonnell and cultivate effective relationships with existing and potential key clients, customers, and contractors to develop business.
- Lead the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance.
- Participate in the development of project fees, schedules, scopes, budgets, staff planning and construction planning. Responsible for the effective management of change orders.
- Prepare and present project budgets and cost estimates. Report project performance.
- Participate in construction administration, including coordination with field personnel to resolve design-related installation issues, calculations, field inspections and testing of materials.
- Lead field inspections, installations, or analyses for public and private clients. Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.
- Comply with company and site safety policies.
- Participate in necessary regional trade associations and professional organizations.
- Assist in managing project and program resources and sub-consultants.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, Professional Engineering License (PE) and a minimum of 7 years structural engineering experience, or master's degree in Structural Engineering and 6 years structural engineering experience.
- Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) project experience preferred.
- Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong knowledge of structural design codes (e.g., IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE-7). Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience leading the design of large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to lead the execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications. - Ability to travel.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License Required
