Hybrid Onsite Schedule Based on Commute Distance:
- Madison Area: Onsite 3 days per week
- Within 50-mile radius: Onsite 2 days per week
- Outside 50 miles (Chicago, Milwaukee, etc.): Onsite 1x per week / 4x per month
Overview
The Investment Business Systems Engineer will join our client's Technology Team, which supports, implements, and develops industry-leading systems and platforms to handle a diverse and complex set of investment portfolios and strategies.
- The team strives to be a trusted advisor and partner to the business, delivering maximum value from technology investments, and aligning technology with the organization's future direction, all while adhering to industry standards.
- In this role, you will lead in day-to-day technical work related to business systems architecture, supporting front and middle office functionality for both public and private markets.
- You will oversee the construction and maintenance of processes utilized by engineers and consultants.
- This position requires solid investment industry knowledge to effectively analyze, design, model, prototype, test, and guide the implementation of critical systems.
- You will partner with operations and technology teams to ensure systems are optimally designed to meet business needs and remain sustainable.
What You Bring to the Role (Ideal Experience)
- Bachelor's Degree required (Information Systems, Computer Science, or Finance preferred).
- 3-5+ years of Investment Management or Banking industry experience.
- Knowledge of investment industry operational and functional capabilities.
- Knowledge of investment industry strategies, processes, and technologies.
- Knowledge of one or more third-party ABOR/IBOR applications such as SimCorp Dimension, Eagle STAR/PACE, or equivalent, with a focus on public and/or private markets.
- Hands-on experience in SQL scripting.
- Hands-on experience with SimCorp Dimension is a plus.
- Experience working in Agile methodology is a plus.
- Ability to influence outcomes objectively and work cross-functionally.
- Strong documentation and technical communication skills.
- Ability to envision solutions, communicate them effectively, and translate conceptual designs into tangible outputs.
- Capable of communicating complex technical concepts in plain language.
- Detailed familiarity with common investment practices and securities.
- Proven ability to design technology solutions to solve business problems.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technology specifications and design systems to meet those needs.
What You'll Do (Skills Used in this Position)
- Partner with technology owners, business owners, and operations to research and implement new solutions while identifying their support needs.
- Analyze the needs of Investment Management, Operations, and Technology teams to ensure business requirements are met through software design, development, and deployment (including upgrades and new implementations).
- Serve as the architect / designer for investment management applications and systems, ensuring proper interaction between applications, systems, and components.
- Develop test plans, scenarios, and procedures for new software implementations.
- Identify gaps and risks in systems architecture, design, and projects. Recommend solutions to address or minimize these risks.
- Lead, facilitate, and coordinate the software/solution architecture and design, including the code required for implementation.
- Implement software testing (manual, automated, and exploratory) and evaluate results; document and report defects; oversee ongoing maintenance and upgrades.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on IT business applications to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues.
- Continue to evolve knowledge of investment, and asset management business practices from both theoretical and practical perspectives.
- Maintain awareness of investment industry-specific technology trends and forecast future shifts.
- Research new investment management technologies to advance business capabilities and stay informed on industry products, vendors, and services.

Compensation and Employment
This role requires authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship. The expected base salary for this position is $80,000 - $105,000 per year plus bonus and full comprehensive employee benefits such as health insurance, PTO, and retirement benefits.
