Job Description

About the Role

As Senior Manager, Software Engineering, you will be at the forefront of driving technical excellence and innovation within our engineering team. You will collaborate closely with design, product, and engineering experts to tackle real-world challenges and deliver innovative solutions that elevate our retail offerings.

What You'll Do
  • Drive development, testing, deployments and iterative improvement of product capabilities and features in collaboration with peers across Design, Product Management and Engineering
  • Apply cutting-edge techniques and deployment methods to create impactful, customer-centric solutions
  • Leverage critical thinking, experimentation, data and industry best practices to implement desired business outcomes
  • Develop high-quality applications that are secure, easy to operate, difficult to break, and highly observable with measurable results
  • Lead and manage the entire product application lifecycle, including design, code, infrastructure, data, security and CICD
  • Establish product engineering and software standards
  • Set the product vision and drive culture by modeling partnership, collaboration, and technical initiatives and giving/receiving feedback regularly to the teams
  • Lead technical initiatives across the organization
  • Manage, mentor and coach a group of engineers, anchors and engineering managers in the team with a lot of empathy and demonstrate hands-on experience in situations embedded on the team as an individual contributor
  • Effectively balance time between technical leadership and people management
  • Acquire, retain and develop top and diverse talent
  • Additional tasks may be assigned

Addendum

SENIOR MANAGER, BIG DATA SOFTWARE ENGINEERING
  • Strong knowledge of build management tools such as Jenkins or Maven
  • Demonstrated understanding of source control systems such as GIT
  • Extensive Database Design experience including either SQL, PL/SQL
  • Implementing ETL process with Big Data Technologies
  • Spark, Python, Scala and Airflow experience
  • Preferred knowledge of MapReduce, Pig, Hive, Kafka, Sqoop, and Flume
  • Experience in designing and creating automation workflows and execution
  • Extensive knowledge of Apache Airflow Developing DAG, Performance tuning of the DAGs and task implementation
  • Experience working with distributed caching technologies such as REDIS
  • Good understanding of MPP databases such as Teradata and Netezza
  • Hands-on lead developer/architect who excels in a dynamic, fast-moving, and agile environment building high quality and high-performance Data Engineering software

What Skills You Have

Required
  • 8+ years of experience in software development
  • 4+ years of progressive management experience, developing and attracting multiple diverse teams
  • Expert ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Successful transformation of technical leadership into people leadership
  • Strong knowledge of application design patterns, event-driven architecture, database schemas and testing strategies
  • Experience with large scale application troubleshooting and performance tuning
  • Proven experience working with major cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure)
  • Expert knowledge and experience with continuous integration, continuous deployment, and test driven development

Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in MIS, Computer Science or related field
