Role: Mainframe Technical Specialist - Cobol, DB2, VSAM, JCL, CICS
Location: Charlotte NC (Onsite)
W2 Contract Only
Job Summary
Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for Hogan core banking systems, reverse-engineering legacy modules and translating embedded business logic into modern, canonical specifications to support migration to the Pismo platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Reverse-engineer Hogan modules including IDS, CIS, PEP+, ULS, DDA, and rail-specific components
- Analyze and document business rules embedded in COBOL programs into structured, reusable specifications
- Design and build data extraction and integration interfaces using:
- VSAM
- DB2
- MQ
- Enable dual-write mechanisms, rollback strategies, and legacy-side validation during migration
- Support legacy system stabilization and change control processes in production
- Collaborate with architecture and development teams to ensure accurate behavior replication in Pismo
- Participate in decommissioning strategy for legacy functionalities
Skill Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on experience with DXC Hogan core banking platform
- Strong expertise in:
- COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, MQ
- Proven experience in:
- Legacy system analysis and reverse engineering
- Core banking modernization / migration programs
- Strong understanding of production change management and control processes
- Ability to translate complex legacy logic into modern functional/technical documentation
Other Requirements:
- Prior experience in Hogan to cloud-native core migration (e.g., Pismo, Mambu)
- Exposure to ISO 20022 mapping and payments transformation
- Experience with mainframe DevOps tools (CA Endevor, Changeman)
- Knowledge of parallel-run and reconciliation strategies
