MES Maintenance Operations Lead – SAP PM / EAM Integration (A&D)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced MES Maintenance Operations Lead to design and implement integrated maintenance execution capabilities across MES / plant systems and SAP PM / EAM in SAP S/4HANA. This role supports maintenance planning, execution coordination, downtime tracking, equipment-event visibility, and performance feedback to improve asset reliability and operational uptime across manufacturing environments.
A&D Compliance & Regulatory Considerations
For Aerospace & Defense environments, the role must support controlled maintenance execution with full traceability of maintenance events, equipment history, and operational status. Solutions should enable audit-ready records for regulated equipment and support compliance-sensitive operations where contract requirements, export-control constraints, and regulated maintenance practices apply.
Key Responsibilities
Lead design and implementation of maintenance operations processes that connect enterprise planning with plant-level execution.
Support preventive, corrective, and condition-based maintenance scenarios and workflow-driven execution.
Define execution visibility across work order release, work completion, equipment condition, downtime, and failure events.
Design integration between plant execution systems and SAP PM / EAM for notifications, work order synchronization, maintenance status updates, downtime capture, and completion feedback.
Ensure maintenance processes are aligned with production operations and asset availability requirements.
Support reporting into planned vs. actual maintenance, downtime reasons, asset availability, maintenance completion performance, and reliability improvement trends.
Drive opportunities for continuous improvement in maintenance execution efficiency and coordination.
Transformation Delivery & Ways of Working
Participate in full lifecycle transformation programs spanning Discover, Explore, Realize, Deploy, and Hypercare / Run.
Operate effectively in a hybrid Agile delivery model, combining sprint-based execution for iterative design, build, testing, and defect resolution with milestone-driven governance for design approvals, deployment readiness, and executive reporting.
Use Jira (or similar tools) for backlog management, user story definition and refinement, sprint planning, execution tracking, defect management, and dependency tracking.
Facilitate fit-to-standard workshops, backlog grooming, design playbacks, sprint demos, and business validation sessions with cross-functional stakeholders.
Support SIT, UAT, cutover planning, go-live execution, and hypercare stabilization.
Maintain strong governance through RAID management, action tracking, decision logs, and regular workstream status reporting.
Required Skills & Experience
8+ years of experience in maintenance operations, SAP PM / EAM, MES/MOM, or plant maintenance integration.
Strong knowledge of maintenance notifications and work orders, plant downtime and asset status tracking, and operational maintenance workflows.
Experience integrating maintenance planning systems with execution and equipment-event data.
Experience working in hybrid Agile delivery using Jira or similar platforms.
Strong cross-functional collaboration and process design skills.
Experience in regulated manufacturing or asset-intensive industries preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with predictive, connected, or condition-based maintenance initiatives.
Exposure to IoT, machine-event integration, or OT plant systems.
Aerospace & Defense, industrial manufacturing, or complex operations experience preferred.
Familiarity with reliability metrics and operational asset-performance reporting.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance, Industrial Technology, Information Systems, or related field. SAP PM / EAM certifications are a plus.
