Role Overview: Under close supervision, the Radiology Technologist I performs a variety of duties in theDepartment of Radiology/ Imaging Services of Alameda Health System. Performs various diagnosticimaging examinations of patients as directed for diagnostic and treatment purposes according to
established procedures. Performs related duties as required.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in thisclassification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed arenecessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

  • Assists physicianin administering opaque media.
  • \t
  • Cooperates with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department; rotates assignments within the departmentand by assigned shifts as required.

  • Develops film by automatic processing and must also be proficient in utilizing the Picture Archival Communications(PACS) System.
  • \t
  • Maintains adequate records as directed; assists in rooming of patients.
  • \t
  • May be required to assist in the development of technical factors and film selection; may assist in the use of avariety of equipment or procedures not routinely taught; may assist in the training of students.

  • May be responsible for specific areas of technical instruction in the school of technology, in service training andthe training of ancillary personnel.

  • Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with designate areas orprocedures as required.

  • Performs all general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties as determined by employer.

  • Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination; maintains orderliness and cleanliness; securesand returns supplies.

  • Produces radiographs, positions and transfers patients. Provides immobilization devices as required.

  • Provides protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards.

  • Responsible for delegated areas of authority in the performance of routine, angiographic and computerizedtomography procedures.

  • Selects and operates all imaging equipment as directed.

  • Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Experience: This is the entry-level class for Radiology Technologists within Alameda HealthSystem. Technologists in this classification may require close supervision or assistance to perform certainexaminations. Incumbents are expected to develop skills necessary to progress to Radiology Technologist IIafter the completion of one year.

Required Licenses/Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support Certification - issued by AHA-American HeartAssociation.

Required Licenses/Certifications: Fluoroscopy Permit issued by the State of California Department of HealthServices within six months of hire.

Required Licenses/Certifications:If mammographic examinations are performed, must have valid mammography certification.

Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid ARRT Radiologic Technologist certification or equivalent education approved by the state of California.

Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid certificate as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the State of California Department of Public Health.

Pay Range $64.13/hr

The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate?s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization.
