We are currently looking for 'Data Center Operations Engineer' to support one of our clients with the following skills:

Job Title: Data Center Operations Engineer
Location: Rancho Cordova, CA (Local Candidates Only)
Duration: 12+ Months Contract-to-Hire
Bill Rate: DOE
Work Model: Hybrid 2 days/week onsite (Rancho Cordova Office or Sacramento Data Center)
Travel: Up to 20% (Occasional travel to SF, Oakland, or Virginia)

Job Summary
We are seeking a Data Center Operations Engineer with 3 7+ years of experience in critical facility / data center environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in power, cooling, electrical distribution, and infrastructure support, along with basic networking knowledge.
This is a mission-critical operations role supporting 24x7 infrastructure reliability and availability.

Key Responsibilities
Data Center Infrastructure Operations
  • Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on:
    • UPS systems, generators, PDUs
    • HVAC, CRAC/CRAH units, chillers
    • Electrical distribution systems
  • Monitor systems using DCIM / BMS tools
  • Install and decommission racks, servers, storage, and network equipment
  • Perform firmware/OS rebuilds, cabling refresh, hardware upgrades
  • Validate grounding, staging, labeling, and deployment standards
  • Coordinate third-party vendors and contractors
  • Participate in audits, compliance, and safety inspections
  • Monitor and report uptime, capacity, and operational metrics

Incident, Risk & Change Management
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Execute change management activities with minimal disruption
  • Escalate and communicate technical/safety incidents
  • Participate in on-call rotation

Required Skills & Experience
  • 3 7+ years in Data Center / Critical Facility Operations
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Power systems & electrical distribution
    • Cooling systems (HVAC, CRAC/CRAH)
    • DCIM / BMS platforms
  • Hands-on hardware, server, and network installation/troubleshooting
  • Basic networking knowledge (switching, cabling, connectivity validation)
  • Vendor coordination & project support experience
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to work shifts and on-call rotation

Education
Bachelor s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering (Preferred) OR equivalent technical experience.

Preferred Certifications
  • CDCP
  • Uptime Institute certification
  • Related Data Center certifications

Interview Process

The national base pay range below is a good-faith estimate of what our client may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Client's assessment of the candidates knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications.
