Mainframe developer

Location: Columbus OH onsite.

Skill requirements

  • Hands-on experience with IBM z/OS Connect Designer, API toolkit, or Visual Studio Code tools for generating provider/requester projects and language structures.
  • Working knowledge of z/OS application environments such as CICS, IMS, Db2, COBOL, and PL/I.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, OpenAPI 3.0, and API lifecycle design.
  • Ability to map mainframe data structures to JSON and back, using tools such as JSONata or the built-in mapping functions.
  • Familiarity with mainframe security concepts such as authentication, authorization, and API gateway-style controls.
  • Basic understanding of JCL, datasets, batch jobs, and z/OS development workflows is helpful for troubleshooting and deployment.

Nice-to-have experience

Experience with Azure API Management, enterprise integration, or hybrid-cloud modernization
