Location- Waltham, MA (Remote)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced AVEVA PI System Architect / Engineer with strong expertise in industrial data systems, real-time monitoring, and enterprise integration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing the AVEVA PI (OSIsoft PI) ecosystem to support operational analytics, monitoring, and data-driven decision-making.
This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to work in real-time critical environments, and the capability to act as a technical leader and Subject Matter Expert (SME).
Key Responsibilities
AVEVA PI System Administration & Architecture
- Design, implement, and maintain AVEVA PI System (OSIsoft PI) architecture, including:
- PI Data Archive
- PI AF (Asset Framework)
- PI Vision / PI Coresight
- PI Interfaces and Connectors
- Configure and manage data collection from SCADA, DCS, and IoT systems into the PI Historian.
- Ensure system scalability, reliability, security, and performance optimization.
Data Modeling & Analytics
- Develop and maintain:
- AF structures, templates, and hierarchies
- Event Frames
- PI Analytics / Asset Analytics
- Support operational analytics and real-time monitoring use cases.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across the platform.
Integration & Visualization
- Perform integrations with enterprise systems such as:
- ADMS / EMS / DMS
- ERP systems
- Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)
- Build dashboards and visualizations using:
- PI Vision
- Power BI
- Other BI tools
Troubleshooting & Optimization
- Troubleshoot issues related to:
- Data latency
- Interface failures
- Connectivity issues
- Performance bottlenecks
- Monitor and optimize historian performance and data flow.
- Support maintenance and enhancement activities for industrial data infrastructure.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as a technical leader / SME for AVEVA PI-related initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, engineering, IT, and business stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance and best practices related to AVEVA PI architecture and security.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Strong technical knowledge of AVEVA PI Architecture.
- Strong hands-on experience with the AVEVA PI System (OSIsoft PI) suite.
- Hands-on experience with:
- PI Data Archive
- PI AF
- PI Vision
- PI Interfaces (OPC, Modbus, etc.)
- Knowledge of SCADA, DCS, or industrial control systems.
- Experience in data modeling and time-series databases.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as:
- OPC DA/UA
- MQTT
- Modbus
- Experience with scripting and automation using:
- PowerShell
- Python
- Understanding of networking, system architecture, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
- Strong understanding of AVEVA PI security principles and their practical application.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in real-time critical environments.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Capability to lead technical discussions and mentor junior team members.
Good to Have
- Experience with .NET Framework.
- Experience working with Electrical Utilities or Energy domain projects.
- Exposure to cloud-based industrial data solutions.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale PI implementations.
- Experience with operational analytics and industrial IoT ecosystems.
- Experience integrating PI systems with cloud and enterprise applications.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related field.
