Job Description
FileNet Java DeveloperThe FileNet Java Developer is responsible for designing and implementing custom migration, integration, and application solutions to support the consolidation and modernization of FileNet environments. This role focuses on migrating content, metadata, workflows, audit history, and integrations while ensuring data integrity, regulatory compliance, and alignment with enterprise standards.
Key Responsibilities
Content & Metadata Migration
- Identify and assess all relevant data objects, including documents, metadata, workflows, and lifecycles involved in migration or integration efforts.
- Map source data structures to target FileNet schemas (document classes, properties, and metadata) using custom Java-based solutions.
- Manage data transformations across metadata formats, document types, and folder structures, including normalization and enrichment as required.
- Migrate versioned documents while ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper version history.
- Preserve document lifecycle states (e.g., draft, approved, archived) throughout the migration process.
- Ensure retention policies, classifications, and records management rules are maintained between systems.
Audit, Compliance & Data Integrity
- Migrate audit data and create or update supporting tables to preserve audit trails, version history, and security classifications.
- Validate data integrity, completeness, and accuracy within target object stores.
- Develop and execute jobs to re-index migrated content in accordance with enterprise standards.
- Create reconciliation processes to track, validate, and report on migration progress and outcomes.
Workflow & Process Engine Migration
- Recreate or migrate workflows from the FileNet Process Engine.
- Ensure workflow steps, participants, routing logic, and triggers function correctly after migration.
- Validate workflow execution, exception handling, and end-to-end process behavior post-migration.
Integration & Custom Development
- Review, enhance, and develop custom code to support migration processes, reporting, and data extraction.
- Re-establish, reconfigure, or redesign integrations to support existing and newly defined business processes.
- Provide API development and integration support for upstream and downstream systems.
Testing & Operational Readiness
- Perform test migrations using representative data sets.
- Develop and document rollback, recovery, and contingency procedures for partial or failed migrations.
- Support defect resolution and remediation efforts during test and production migration phases.
Application Development & Support
- Participate in full lifecycle application development, including design, coding, debugging, testing, and deployment.
- Conduct software and code analysis, requirements analysis, risk assessment, and reliability evaluations.
- Apply object-oriented analysis and design (OOA/OOD) principles and software modeling techniques.
- Design and enhance user interfaces as needed.
- Perform software testing, quality assurance, performance tuning, and optimization.
- Support, maintain, and document application functionality.
- Integrate applications with existing enterprise systems.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools for implementation.
- Ensure compliance with development standards and best practices.
- Support localization or globalization requirements when applicable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong experience with Java development in enterprise content management environments.
- Experience with IBM FileNet Content Manager and Process Engine.
- Solid understanding of content migration, metadata modeling, workflow design, and system integrations.
- Experience with enterprise application development, testing, and production support.
