Location: Chandler, Arizona (Hybrid)
Role Overview
This position is responsible for engineering the virtualization layer of the Internal Cloud Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) stack. The role enables standardized, production-grade hosting for various workload types, including virtual machines, grid compute, and container platforms. You will ensure the virtualization layer meets enterprise requirements for availability, performance, and resiliency while integrating with the broader HCI stack components built through automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer and maintain the VMware-based virtualization platform layer within the Internal Cloud HCI stack.
- Own virtualization engineering patterns, platform configurations, and operational standards.
- Govern how virtualized workload domains are designed, validated, upgraded, and supported.
- Support lifecycle changes, upgrades, and validate the performance and resiliency of the virtualization layer.
- Partner with automation and platform teams to ensure virtualization capabilities are delivered consistently as part of a layered, automation-driven HCI build model.
Required Qualifications
- 4-5 years of experience engineering or operating enterprise virtualization platforms in production environments.
- Hands-on experience with Linux workloads and infrastructure troubleshooting in virtualized environments.
- Familiarity with VMware virtualization concepts and hyperconverged infrastructure fundamentals, including compute, virtualization, and storage interaction.
- Experience supporting virtualization lifecycle activities such as upgrades, patching, stability and performance triage, and production change processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5-7+ years of experience supporting virtualization platforms at an enterprise scale.
- Experience operating virtualization platforms that support multiple workload domains like VMs, container platforms, or grid/batch.
- VMware certification (e.g., VCP) or equivalent training and experience.
- Experience working in regulated environments with formal operational readiness, change control, and release governance expectations.
