Summary

Data Center QA/QC Technician - Structured Cabling

Data Center Environment | Long-Term Contract | 50 Hrs/Week
Prefer inspecting work instead of installing it?
We're hiring a QA/QC Technician to support large-scale data center structured cabling projects. This role is 100% quality-focused - auditing completed work, documenting findings, and helping ensure installs meet required standards before turnover.
This is a strong fit for experienced cabling professionals who know what "right" looks like and want to step out of daily production work.

Why Techs Take This Role

  • No daily cable pulling
  • Focus on inspection, verification, and documentation
  • Long-term data center project (not a short audit)
  • Consistent schedule (~50 hrs/week)
  • Professional environment with experienced project teams
  • Your input actually matters - findings drive corrections

What You'll Be Doing

You'll work behind installation crews to inspect completed telecom infrastructure and validate quality, readiness, and compliance.

Quality Audits & Inspections

  • Perform daily QA/QC inspections across active data center sites
  • Audit completed fiber and copper cabling, racks, and pathways
  • Verify workmanship, routing, labeling, dressing, and testing
  • Ensure installs meet BICSI, TIA, OEM specs, and project standards
  • Identify non-conformances and potential risks before turnover

Documentation & Reporting

  • Document inspection results, deficiencies, and corrective actions
  • Maintain organized QA/QC logs and inspection records
  • Deliver clear, professional reports to site leadership

Collaboration & Improvement

  • Communicate findings clearly with supervisors and installers
  • Recommend corrective actions and process improvements
  • Support quality or training initiatives when requested

What We're Looking For

You don't need to be a paperwork-only QA person - hands-on cabling experience matters.

Required

  • 2+ years in structured cabling or telecom infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of data center environments
  • Knowledge of fiber & copper cabling, racks, labeling, and cable management
  • Familiarity with industry standards (BICSI, TIA, OEM specs)
  • Detail-oriented, quality-first mindset
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Clear written and verbal communication

Nice to Have

  • Fiber testing or inspection experience
  • OSP or technical support experience
  • LMS or training documentation experience
  • Ability to assist install teams during downtime (when needed)

Ideal Candidate Profile

This role is ideal for someone who:
  • Thinks like an auditor, not just an installer
  • Knows how to spot issues before they turn into rework
  • Is comfortable documenting problems - even when it means pushing back
  • Wants to be on the quality side of the project

Installation experience is valuable, but inspection, verification, and documentation are the priority.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Active data center job sites
  • Monday-Friday
  • 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM (~50 hrs/week)
  • Overtime currently aligned with production demands
  • PPE required (safety boots, etc.)

Why This Role Matters

Quality issues slow down turnover, increase rework, and frustrate everyone.
This role directly impacts:
  • Build quality
  • On-time delivery
  • Client confidence

If you take pride in doing it right the first time, this role gives you the authority and visibility to make that happen.

Ready to Apply?

If you're a structured cabling professional who prefers inspection over installation, this is a stable, impactful opportunity on major data center projects.
