Role: SAP S/4HANA Production Planning (PP) and Production Execution (PE) Lead

Location: Remote

Long Term Contract

Remote with minimal Travel to NYC,NY

Role Summary: We are seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA Production Planning (PP) and Production Execution (PE) Lead to drive complex manufacturing transformations across discrete, process, and hybrid manufacturing environments. This role requires deep functional expertise in SAP PP/PE combined with strong experience integrating MES platforms and third-party Warehouse Management Systems within large-scale, global manufacturing programs. The ideal candidate brings a business-first mindset, understands shop floor realities, and can translate manufacturing operations into scalable, standardized SAP solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Execution: Lead end-to-end design and implementation of SAP S/4HANA PP and Production Execution capabilities, including:

1.         Demand-driven planning and MRP

2.         Capacity planning and sequencing

3.         Production orders, confirmations, and backflushing

4.         Scrap, rework, yield, and variance management

5.         Regrind, co-products, and by-products (where applicable)

6.         Drive fit-to-standard workshops with manufacturing stakeholders while protecting true operational differentiators

7.         Design scalable planning and execution models across multi-plant environments

MES & Shop Floor Integration

1.         Define and lead integration between SAP S/4HANA and MES systems

2.         Align system responsibilities across:

3.         SAP (planning, costing, inventory, order management).

4.         MES (execution, machine data, performance, quality signals).

5.         Design integration patterns for:

6.         Production order dispatching.

7.         Confirmations, scrap, downtime, and performance feedback.

8.         Quality signals and exception handling.

9.         Partner with IT, OT, and automation teams to ensure reliable, real-time data flows.

Warehouse & Logistics Integration

1.         Collaborate with WMS teams (SAP EWM or third-party WMS) to align:

2.         Material staging and backflushing.

3.         Production supply areas and kanban.

4.         Finished goods putaway and shipment readiness.

5.         Design robust integration models between Production Execution and Warehouse operations, including 3PL interactions where applicable.

Data, Governance & Controls

1.         Lead manufacturing master data design:

2.         Materials, BOMs (EBOM/MBOM), routings, work centers.

3.         Production versions and costing views.

4.         Establish governance for:

5.         Scrap and defect codes (aligned with QM).

6.         Production data quality and ownership.

7.         Change management for shop floor processes.

Program & Stakeholder Leadership

1.         Act as the primary manufacturing SME for PP/PE across the program.

2.         Partner with business leaders, plant managers, quality, supply chain, and finance.

3.         Support executive decision-making with clear tradeoffs and risk assessments.

4.         Mentor junior consultants and contribute to asset and accelerator development.

Required Qualifications

1.         10+ years of SAP manufacturing experience with deep PP/PE expertise.

2.         Multiple SAP S/4HANA implementations (greenfield and/or conversions).

3.         Hands-on experience integrating MES platforms with SAP.

4.         Strong understanding of shop floor operations and manufacturing KPIs.

5.         Experience with third-party WMS or SAP EWM in manufacturing contexts.

6.         Proven ability to lead complex design discussions and drive decisions.

Educational Qualifications:

·         Required - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or closely related or equivalent.

·         Preferred - Master’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Big Data or Analytics or equivalent.

Travel:

·         Open to travel based-up on the nature of the engagement.
