Title: DevOps Engineer
Job Type: Contract to hire (Part time to start)
Location: South Aurora (Monday-Wednesday onsite)
Pay Range: Up to $65/hour
Summary
This role is responsible for building and enhancing deployment pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and automation processes within the Azure ecosystem. The DevOps Engineer works closely with development teams to streamline code delivery, improve system reliability, and enable scalable application deployment. The position focuses on accelerating release cycles, enforcing infrastructure-as-code standards, and supporting modern application architectures such as containerized and event-driven systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps to support frequent, high-quality releases
- Partner directly with software engineers to optimize development workflows and improve deployment efficiency
- Build and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Bicep or Terraform
- Provision and support application-level resources, including App Services, Kubernetes clusters, container platforms, databases, and messaging systems
- Enable and support containerized environments using Docker, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and Azure Container Apps
- Develop and maintain deployment strategies such as blue/green and canary releases
- Automate deployment processes to ensure consistency across environments and reduce manual effort
- Implement monitoring, logging, and observability practices to maintain application health and performance
- Apply security and governance controls at the workload level
- Collaborate with architects and platform teams to align implementations with broader architectural standards
- Continuously improve processes, tooling, and delivery practices to enhance operational efficiency
Skills
- Expertise in Azure DevOps with strong experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using Bicep and/or Terraform
- Hands-on experience with Azure services at the application layer (App Services, AKS, Container Apps, databases, messaging platforms)
- Strong background in containerization technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and Azure Container Registry (ACR)
- Experience implementing advanced deployment techniques such as blue/green and canary releases
- Ability to create developer-friendly automation that simplifies deployments and improves consistency
- Strong understanding of release management, versioning, and pipeline optimization
- Solid communication skills with the ability to collaborate closely with engineering teams
- Developer-focused mindset with a passion for improving productivity and reducing friction in delivery workflows
- Experience supporting event-driven and cloud-native architectures
