The Role
Blue Peak Tents is hiring a Fleet Equipment Technician (FET) to be the go-to technical authority for our event equipment HVAC, generators, restroom trailers, lighting, flooring, and climate control. This is a hands-on, build-it role: you'll maintain fleet readiness, develop field-ready SOPs, and serve as the primary Saturday point of contact for technical issues.
Early on, you'll spend ~50% of your time in the field learning the business firsthand. Over time, the focus shifts to building systems, training others, and reducing reactive calls on senior leadership.
Compensation & Benefits
$30.00 $38.00/hr depending on experience and qualifications
CDL Class A upgrade sponsorship (paid by Blue Peak a real retention investment)
Off-season training & certification: HVAC, power systems, industry courses
Overtime available during peak season (May October)

What You'll Do
Equipment Maintenance & Fleet Readiness
Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HVAC units, generators, restroom trailers, lighting rigs, flooring, and tent heaters
Own the restroom trailer program end-to-end: prep, testing, troubleshooting, and post-event inspection
Conduct pre-deployment inspections with documented checklists
Diagnose and resolve equipment issues on-site when mission-critical
Process Development & Training
Create dummy-proof labeling and laminated field guides for equipment self-service
Develop SOPs and inspection checklists that travel with each piece of equipment
Train and mentor runners on restroom trailer setup, operation, and troubleshooting
Build a library of training materials (written, visual, video) for off-season cycles
Weekend & Field Support
Serve as the primary Saturday triage contact resolve field issues by phone or in person
Half-day on-call from home on lighter Saturdays; immediate availability if needed
Escalate through the chain when issues exceed your scope
Requirements:
What We're Looking For
Required
CDL Class C license (current, clean record)
3+ years hands-on experience in equipment maintenance, mechanical repair, HVAC, electrical, or a related trade
Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical/electrical equipment in the field with limited resources
Experience towing trailers and operating commercial vehicles
Self-starter with sound judgment you fix the problem and prevent the next one
Willing to work Saturdays year-round
Preferred (Nice to Have)
CDL Class A (or willingness to obtain Blue Peak sponsors the upgrade)
Background in HVAC, generators/power systems, or restroom trailer plumbing
Experience writing SOPs or process documentation in a field environment
Military motor pool, field maintenance, or equipment management background
Bilingual English/Spanish a strong plus given our workforce
Physical Requirements
This role requires lifting up to 75 lbs, climbing, crawling, kneeling, and working in confined spaces. Work is performed indoors (warehouse) and outdoors (field sites) in all weather. Steel-toe footwear required. Comfort at heights and on uneven terrain is necessary.
Compensation details: 30-38 Hourly Wage
