Job Summary:
The Cyber Security Engineer will support security operations by monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security events across network and system environments. This role requires strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, networking fundamentals, and security tools to protect organizational assets. The analyst will assist in implementing security controls, supporting infrastructure projects, and collaborating with vendors while maintaining high standards of security, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Job Responsibilities:
* Monitor and respond to security events and alerts within Security Operations Center (SOC) or Managed * Detection and Response (MDR) environments
* Work with vendors to apply and manage security certificates across devices including switches, firewalls, and wireless access points
* Support implementation and onboarding of SOC/MDR services, including development of procedures and documentation
* Test and validate network segmentation security controls to ensure compliance and effectiveness
* Provide cybersecurity evaluation and implementation support for infrastructure projects, including
* VMware replacement initiatives
* Assist with Active Directory cybersecurity projects, including security hardening and access control improvements
* Support Network Access Control (NAC) implementation and ongoing management
* Analyze security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and recommend remediation actions
* Document processes, findings, and security configurations clearly and accurately
* Ensure compliance with organizational security policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
* Maintain a clean, organized, and secure working environment while adhering to all safety and compliance standards
* Participate in required safety training and uphold organizational core values (CARES: Community, * Actions, Reliability, Excellence, Safety)
Required Qualifications:
* Associate"s degree required; bachelor"s degree preferred in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field
* Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, threats, and defense mechanisms
* Experience monitoring and responding to security events in a SOC or similar environment
* Advanced knowledge of networking concepts including IP addressing, TCP/IP, and basic firewall rules
* Proficiency with security tools such as SIEM platforms and endpoint protection systems
* Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems
* Ability to plan, organize, and manage time effectively across multiple projects
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
* Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and records
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
