Job Description

PURPOSE:

As a Shell Process Engineer, you will play a critical role in driving manufacturing performance within a fast-paced production environment. You will leverage engineering expertise, data analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

This role partners cross-functionally with operations, quality, and maintenance teams to solve complex process challenges, optimize slurry chemistry and shell processes, and lead initiatives that improve productivity and product performance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance shell process quality using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Support daily production operations by troubleshooting process issues and implementing sustainable solutions
  • Monitor, test, and control slurry chemistry to maintain consistent process performance
  • Program, troubleshoot, and optimize robotic dipping systems to improve quality and throughput
  • Analyze scrap, rework, and process performance data to identify trends and drive improvements
  • Maintain process stability through equipment monitoring, parameter control, and optimization efforts
  • Support engineering change management, including review, documentation, validation, and implementation
  • Participate in audits and quality investigations; implement and track corrective and preventive actions
  • Evaluate product designs and equipment capabilities to ensure manufacturability within existing processes
  • Lead and support capital projects and tooling initiatives to improve safety, quality, and efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality standards
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, quality, and maintenance teams to achieve plant goals
  • Perform additional engineering and quality-related duties as assigned

SPECIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, data-driven problem solver with a proven track record of process improvement.
  • Ability to work in a heavy manufacturing environment, including lifting materials up to 50 lbs.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
  • Reports directly to the Process Engineering Manager.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Materials Science, or related field)
  • Knowledge of investment casting technology, processes and manufacturing methods are preferred.
