We currently have an exciting opportunity in Poway, CA. for an Industrial Engineer within our ASI Division.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Independently analyze and optimize the integration of manpower, facility space, materials, equipment, and information flow for complex processes.
  • Lead the design and implementation of process improvements in manufacturing, logistics, and operations within a site or functional area.
  • Serve as a key contributor on cross-functional improvement projects, coordinating tasks, schedules, and deliverables with limited direction.
  • Proactively identify risks, capacity constraints, and future needs; develop and recommend solutions to address technical and operational challenges.
  • Lead the resolution of moderately complex technical problems, selecting and applying appropriate industrial engineering and lean tools.
  • Partner with Design Engineering to influence product and process design during prototype, development, and first article builds to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work with Operations Program Management and P&L stakeholders to define, document, and improve processes supporting both domestic and international operations.
  • Own the creation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of work instructions, routings, and related documentation for assigned product lines or value streams.
  • Communicate complex technical and process information clearly to cross-functional teams, including recommendations, trade-offs, and change impacts.
  • Provide input to site-level planning, capital proposals, and digital/automation initiatives by supplying data, analysis, and implementation support.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Preferred engineering disciplines include Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in manufacturing and production environment preferred. Defense and Aeronautical industry a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with engineering change processes, including coordinating changes from request through implementation.
  • Strong experience interpreting engineering drawings and managing/maintaining engineering and manufacturing BOMs.
  • Proven application of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies for waste reduction and productivity improvement (e.g., value stream mapping, kaizen participation, SMED, basic statistical tools). Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent formal training preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and validating discrete-event simulation models (e.g., Simio, Plant Simulation, Arena) to evaluate capacity, throughput, and flow for production processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and experience using ERP systems (SAP or similar); experience with AutoCAD for floor layouts and simple tooling preferred.
  • Experience performing time studies, work measurement, line balancing, and capacity modeling to support process design and improvement.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment; aerospace/defense and familiarity with AS9100 quality systems desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently on moderately complex projects and present findings to cross-functional teams.
  • Must be able to work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret clearance is required.
