Digital SAP Manager – Finance

Job Summary

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Digital SAP Manager – Finance to lead the design, implementation, integration, and optimization of SAP Finance solutions as part of our enterprise Digital Transformation journey.

This role will serve as a key functional leader responsible for aligning SAP S/4HANA Finance capabilities with business objectives across Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Procurement, Inventory Management, Logistics, and Distribution.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SAP S/4HANA Finance, General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Asset Accounting, Controlling (CO), Product Costing, and manufacturing finance processes, along with experience leading SAP implementations and cross-functional transformation initiatives.

This position typically reports to the Director, Digital Supply Chain – SAP.

Key Responsibilities

SAP Finance System Management

• Own and lead the process design, configuration, development, testing, deployment, and integration of the SAP Finance value stream.

• Provide functional leadership and subject matter expertise across SAP S/4HANA Finance and Controlling.

• Manage integration between SAP Finance and other SAP modules, including MM, SD, and PP, as well as external systems.

• Oversee SAP system upgrades, patches, enhancements, integrations, and performance optimization.

• Ensure SAP solutions are implemented on time, within budget, and in alignment with enterprise architecture and digital strategy.

• Establish scalable SAP Finance solutions that support long-term business growth.

Project & Transformation Leadership

• Lead the SAP Finance workstream for major implementation and digital transformation initiatives.

• Provide thought leadership, SAP best practices, and functional expertise throughout the project lifecycle.

• Partner with cross-functional teams across Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Production, Procurement, IT, and Digital.

• Lead requirements gathering, solution design, gap analysis, testing, cutover, deployment, and stabilization activities.

• Manage external SAP consultants, implementation partners, and vendors as required.

• Support Agile or hybrid project delivery methodologies.

Business Process Optimization

• Analyze existing financial processes and identify opportunities for automation, standardization, simplification, and efficiency improvements.

• Define and implement global SAP Finance process standards and templates.

• Drive adoption of industry-leading SAP best practices.

• Optimize financial reporting, controlling, compliance, and financial close processes.

• Identify opportunities to leverage SAP capabilities to improve business visibility and decision-making.

Manufacturing Finance Operations

• Lead SAP Finance processes supporting manufacturing, production costing, inventory valuation, and fixed asset accounting.

• Partner with plant controllers and operations teams to ensure SAP functionality aligns with manufacturing and shop-floor requirements.

• Ensure accurate Cost Center Accounting, Product Costing, inventory accounting, and production-related financial processes.

• Support integration between manufacturing operations and Finance within SAP S/4HANA.

• Help standardize financial processes across multi-plant environments.

Stakeholder Management

• Serve as the primary liaison between Finance, Digital, IT, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and other business stakeholders.

• Translate business requirements into scalable SAP S/4HANA functional solutions.

• Facilitate workshops, requirements sessions, solution reviews, and design discussions.

• Communicate effectively with business leadership, technical teams, implementation partners, and end users.

• Provide training, documentation, and ongoing support to drive user adoption.

Compliance & Controls

• Ensure SAP Finance solutions support internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory compliance.

• Support compliance requirements including JSOX and IFRS.

• Maintain appropriate process documentation, configuration documentation, and audit trails.

• Ensure SAP Finance processes adhere to established governance and control standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.

• 7+ years of SAP experience, with at least 3 years of leadership experience in SAP Finance.

• Strong hands-on functional experience with:

  • SAP S/4HANA Finance

  • General Ledger (GL)

  • Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Asset Accounting (AA)

  • Controlling (CO)

  • Cost Center Accounting

  • Product Costing

• Proven experience leading SAP Finance implementations, transformations, or major enhancement projects.

• Experience with SAP S/4HANA RISE implementations.

• Strong understanding of integration between SAP Finance and MM, SD, PP, and external systems.

• Experience leading cross-functional teams and working with business stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.

• Demonstrated ability to manage SAP implementation partners, consultants, and vendors.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

• Ability to travel 25–30% as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP certification in SAP S/4HANA Finance or related SAP Finance disciplines.

• Experience with SAP Fiori.

• Knowledge of SAP BPC and/or SAP Treasury.

• Experience supporting multi-plant and multi-country SAP environments.

• Manufacturing industry experience with strong knowledge of:

  • Production costing

  • Inventory accounting

  • Product costing

  • Fixed assets

  • Cost center accounting

• Experience with Agile, Scrum, or hybrid project management methodologies.

• Experience developing and implementing global SAP Finance templates.

• Strong understanding of financial controls, compliance, and audit requirements.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a hands-on SAP Finance leader and business partner who can bridge the gap between Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and IT. This person should be comfortable operating at both the strategic and functional levels, driving transformation while also understanding detailed SAP S/4HANA configuration, integration, and business processes.

The role requires someone who can lead teams, influence stakeholders, solve complex business problems, and deliver scalable SAP Finance solutions in a dynamic environment.

Work Location & Travel

Remote – Minneapolis, MN

This is a remote position with an expectation of approximately 25–30% travel based on business and project requirements.
