Position: Embedded Software Engineer
Location: Rolling Meadows, IL
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer III to join a dynamic engineering team focused on developing advanced embedded software solutions for mission-critical applications. The ideal candidate will contribute to the full software development lifecycle, working closely with cross-functional engineering teams to design, develop, test, integrate, and maintain embedded software systems.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software applications and system components.
Develop software solutions using object-oriented design principles and modern C++ standards.
Integrate software with embedded hardware platforms and real-time operating systems.
Perform software debugging, verification, validation, and system-level integration testing.
Collaborate with systems, hardware, and software engineering teams to ensure successful product development and deployment.
Apply established software engineering processes, tools, and best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support the development of engineering applications, simulation environments, control systems, and other embedded computing solutions.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or another STEM-related discipline.
Experience with object-oriented software development using C++11 or later.
Experience testing, debugging, and integrating embedded software on target hardware platforms.
Experience working with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Batch scripting, or similar automation tools.
Experience with VxWorks or other real-time operating systems.
Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and frameworks.
Knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and embedded system development best practices.
Experience with software integration, verification, and validation processes.
