Position Title: System Engineer (SE) – Level 3 Job Requirements

Position Summary:
The System Engineer Level 3 is responsible for analyzing requirements, developing system architectures, leading system design efforts, and ensuring technical integrity throughout the engineering lifecycle. This role supports system development, integration, testing, documentation, configuration management, and collaboration across multi?disciplinary teams.
Position Responsibilities:
• Analyze user requirements, CONOPS, and system architectures to develop system requirement specifications.
• Lead system design and development activities and advise on alternate technical approaches.
• Develop system architectures, design documentation, engineering management plans, and integration/test plans.
• Generate alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions.
• Allocate real?time process budgets and error budgets to system components.
• Define verification methods, processes, and evaluation criteria for system testing.
• Develop solutions satisfying functional analysis and system requirements.
• Fully define hardware and software interfaces.
• Contribute to SE documentation including SEPs, ICDs, and requirements specifications.
• Review and approve SE documentation for completeness and compliance.
• Manage interface control and maintain interface repositories.
• Establish processes to manage requirement changes and maintain traceability.
• Maintain technical integrity and configuration of the system baseline.
• Coordinate technical actions across disciplines.
• Establish integration procedures and ensure complete coverage of all interfaces.
• Conduct system trade analyses and use modeling/simulation for risk reduction.
• Perform quantitative analysis on reliability, maintainability, survivability, etc.
• Develop operational concepts and scenario threads.
• Prepare timeline analysis diagrams.
• Support Certification & Accreditation activities.
• Work within IPTs to design new capabilities and resolve issues.
• Provide technical direction for development, integration, and interface engineering.
• Assess program risks and manage mitigation activities.
Position Required Qualifications:
• 20+ years of experience as a System Engineer on similar programs.
• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or equivalent (5 years of experience may substitute).
• Demonstrated experience leading Systems Engineering efforts.
• Experience integrating COTS/GOTS solutions.
• Experience with distributed storage routing and querying algorithms.
• Experience implementing SANs, data warehouses, and data marts.
• Experience deploying storage solutions in clustered or cloud environments.
• Experience optimizing storage, retrieval, backup, and retention across global systems.
• Knowledge of HDFS, Hadoop, HBase/Accumulo.
Position Desired Qualifications"
• Experience with large scale multimedia/multilingual content processing systems.
• Experience with peer?to?peer distributed storage systems >500 nodes.
• Experience with metadata indexing, summarization, visualization, and analytics.
• Experience developing performance, scalability, manageability, and security requirements.
• Experience leading Agile or spiral development teams.
• Experience developing technical documentation and training materials.
• Experience implementing SOA-based architectures and applying DoDAF standards.
