Location: Richland, WA

Job Type: 1+ Years Contract

Schedule: (10 Hours/Day & 4 Days/Week)

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide senior-level technical, implementation, and governance support to high-risk mechanical and electrical enterprise projects within a commercial nuclear power environment.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, supporting Project Managers to ensure project deliverables are executed safely, with high quality, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with regulatory and industry best practices.
  • Perform detailed technical reviews of critical project documentation to identify opportunities for schedule optimization, cost reduction, risk mitigation, and execution efficiency.
  • Review and challenge project strategies, implementation plans, and execution readiness to improve overall project performance.
  • Conduct iterative reviews of project artifacts including (but not limited to):
    • Project and outage schedules (work management and lifecycle-based)
    • Implementation means and methods (internal and vendor-developed)
    • Risk registers and mitigation strategies
    • Work Orders and supporting documentation (weld records, repair/replacement plans, sketches, etc.)
    • Quality control inspections, hold points, and acceptance criteria
    • Test, commissioning, and turnover plans
    • Clearance orders, material handling plans, rigging plans, and tooling strategies
    • Resource loading plans, including mobilization and demobilization strategies
  • Validate and remediate Work Order Tasks (WOTs) to ensure accuracy, clarity, regulatory compliance, and error-free field execution.
  • Review and enhance testing, inspection, and acceptance plans (shop, factory, site, mock-up, post-modification).
  • Identify work activities that would benefit from mock-ups and provide guidance to ensure mock-ups deliver measurable execution value.
  • Apply operating experience and industry lessons learned to proactively identify risks and develop response strategies.
  • Serve as the technical authority or designated responsible individual for applicable repair and replacement activities, including code-based work when required.
  • Provide oversight of field and shop activities as needed, ensuring work aligns with approved strategies and schedules.
  • Support outage and non-outage work execution, including acting as the senior authority on alternate shifts when required, potentially overseeing large multidisciplinary crews.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to remove execution barriers and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Participate in key project and governance meetings, including readiness reviews, schedule development sessions, risk management forums, and high-risk work planning meetings.
  • Deliver candid, timely feedback to project leadership and management on execution risks, strategy gaps, and improvement opportunities.


Must Have / Required:
  • Demonstrated experience supporting maintenance, engineering, or implementation activities at a commercial nuclear power facility.
  • Extensive experience participating in and supporting multiple nuclear refueling outages, including critical path activities.
  • Strong working knowledge of logic-driven project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Proficiency with enterprise asset and work management systems (e.g., SAP, Asset Suite, or similar platforms).
  • Deep understanding of applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements related to maintenance, field execution, and repair/replacement activities.
  • Proven ability to identify execution risks, error traps, and inefficiencies and implement corrective strategies.
  • Strong background in human performance improvement, error reduction techniques, and cost-effective work execution methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills with the ability to analyze complex project data and documentation.

Education & Experience (One of the following required):
  • Graduate degree in a related technical or business field and 10+ years of experience in a nuclear, steam-cycle, or regulated industrial environment.
  • Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of relevant experience.
  • Associate degree and 14+ years of relevant experience.
  • High School Diploma/GED and 16+ years of relevant experience.
