Summary

Role: Business Data Analyst
Duration: 6 months
Location: REMOTE
The Business Data Analyst will be responsible for identifying a problem statement, gathering requirements, identifying the proper data solution, and documenting the decisions to support client's business stakeholders. This role supports data development and maintenance efforts of the Data & Analytics activities and initiatives in alignment with the Enterprise Data strategy, policies, and organizational goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reviews, analyzes, and creates detailed documentation of business rules and data needs.
Coordinates discussions with business/stakeholders and cross functional/technical teams to capture and review use cases, requirements, and another technical document. Ensure all business requirements are accurately reflected and accounted for (including data lineage and transformations)
Collaborates with developers and architects to define and document the data solution to meet needs outlined in the business rules and needs.
Responsible for ensuring business/stakeholder approval, which passes audit scrutiny, for data solutions delivered in a production state.
Documents data ingestion, transformation, and consumption including workflows, data models, data classification, and steps required to curate trusted data.
Responsible for ensuring all documentation reflects the current state and outstanding issues so that business requirements reflect proper state of data.
Support the cloud data framework that aligns with the Enterprise Data Strategy, policies, and organizational goals.
Ensures that the delivered data and processes fulfill the documented business rules and data needs.
Ensure that all items follow company change management process.
Participate in scrum, backlog grooming, refinement, planning and review sessions.
Presents documentation of business rules, data needs, technical documentation, and data models.
Champions department standards for documentation and ensures that all assigned projects meet compliance and can withstand audit scrutiny.
Peer Reviews documentation of business rules, data needs, technical documentation, and data models.
Create data models based on the data solution decisions and conceptual models in collaboration with the data architect and developer.
Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience with Kimball data models
  • Demonstrated Data Query Skills
  • Competent in Microsoft Azure Data tools or Snowflake Technologies.
  • Background and experience in Data Analysis, Data Profiling, Data Transformation and Data Reporting.
  • Experience problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Understanding of CI/CD Pipelines
  • Competent in Agile and Scrum processes
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Prior knowledge of, or willingness to learn, healthcare and analytics industry
  • Health insurance experience with eligibility and claims, data warehousing, analytics and data analysis
