Role Overview
The Cloud DevOps Engineer supports the deployment, scaling, and operational sustainment of a high-availability, Kubernetes-based TAK Server platform hosted in a FedRAMP High authorized cloud. This role focuses on Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD, automation, monitoring, and reliability engineering to ensure near-zero downtime during wildfire surge operations.
This position directly supports system implementation, operations, and continuous optimization activities described in the TAK Server SOW and technical approach.
Key Responsibilities
  • Deploy and maintain TAK Server infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, ARM, or CloudFormation)
  • Support Kubernetes-based deployments, including cluster scaling, HA configurations, and health monitoring
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines supporting secure application and configuration updates
  • Configure and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, GuardDuty)
  • Support backup, disaster recovery, and failover testing aligned with SLA requirements
  • Implement and maintain secure networking, WAF, TLS/mTLS, and boundary protections
  • Support integration with IAM services, PKI, and certificate lifecycle automation
  • Perform performance tuning and scalability testing for 8,000+ concurrent users
  • Support Tier 2/Tier 3 operational troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Maintain operational runbooks, deployment documentation, and configuration artifacts
  • Participate in change management and risk-based patching aligned with security requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 4–6 years of cloud and DevOps experience supporting production systems
  • Strong experience with AWS and/or Azure in regulated environments
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containerized workloads, and microservices
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and automated provisioning
  • Familiarity with FISMA / FedRAMP operational constraints
  • Experience supporting 24×7 mission-critical systems
  • Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, PowerShell)
Preferred Skills & Certifications
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
  • Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD) certification
  • Experience supporting TAK Server or geospatial / real-time data platforms (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust and cloud security best practices
