FAILURE ANALYSIS ENGINEER - Hampton, Virginia - (on-site)

Job Description:

Summary:

This role is responsible for investigating product, material, manufacturing, and field failures to identify failure mechanisms and determine root causes. The individual will perform hands-on laboratory and analytical testing, analyze customer returns and manufacturing defects, document findings in technical reports, and provide data-driven recommendations to improve product quality, reliability, and manufacturing performance. The role works closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to support corrective actions, resolve complex technical issues, reduce recurring failures, and improve products throughout their lifecycle.

Requirements:

·Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or related technical field
·3–5+ years of relevant engineering experience
·Hands-on Failure Analysis / Root Cause Analysis experience
·Experience investigating product failures, manufacturing defects, customer complaints, or field returns
·Hands-on experience with microscopy, metallography, cross-sectioning, SEM/EDS, X-ray, or similar analytical techniques
·Strong knowledge of 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, FTA, and/or Red X
·Ability to identify failure mechanisms and determine root cause
·Experience writing technical failure-analysis/investigation reports
·Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements
·Experience with corrective/preventive actions and cross-functional problem solving
