Senior Data Architect (AWS & Data Platforms)

Location: St. Louis preferred (hybrid, 4 days onsite) | Remote considered for exceptional candidates

Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Data Architect to help shape the design and evolution of enterprise cloud data platforms. This role will be responsible for defining target-state architecture, guiding modernization initiatives, and ensuring data solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with current and future business needs.

Working closely with application development, cloud engineering, and business stakeholders, you will establish architectural standards, evaluate technology solutions, and drive improvements across the data ecosystem. The ideal candidate combines strategic architectural thinking with strong technical expertise, bringing deep AWS knowledge, data governance experience, and a proven ability to deliver scalable, long-term solutions across complex enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop architecture standards, patterns, and roadmaps for enterprise data platforms.
  • Design scalable solutions for data ingestion, storage, integration, and consumption.
  • Establish best practices for data governance, metadata management, and platform security.
  • Partner with engineering teams to improve performance, reliability, and scalability across data services.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Provide guidance on cloud-native architecture, modernization efforts, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to align platform capabilities with organizational goals.
Qualifications
  • 6-7+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, Database Architecture, or related disciplines.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise cloud data solutions.
  • Strong AWS expertise and knowledge of modern cloud data services.
  • Experience with data governance, platform modernization, integration patterns, and DataOps practices.
  • Strong understanding of data security, regulatory considerations, and enterprise architecture principles.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in complex, large-scale environments where reliability and scalability are critical.
