Controls Systems Engineer – Power Generation

We are seeking an experienced Controls Systems Engineer – Power Generation to develop, test, integrate, and troubleshoot industrial control systems for power-generation applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with PLC programming, control logic, sequencing, interlocks, HMI integration, system integration, FAT, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

• Program, test, debug, and troubleshoot control logic across multiple PLC platforms.

• Develop sequencing, interlocks, alarms, diagnostics, and fault-handling logic.

• Implement subsystem interfaces and data exchange with supervisory control systems.

• Develop fail-safe control strategies, including communication-loss detection and recovery.

• Support HMI integration through PLC tags, diagnostics, and control logic.

• Participate in system integration, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and field troubleshooting.

• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software, and field engineering teams.

• Review system requirements and translate them into robust control solutions.

• Support troubleshooting and resolution of control-system issues during testing and commissioning.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor''s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field.

• 5+ years of industrial PLC programming experience.

• Hands-on experience with multiple PLC platforms and industrial control systems.

• Strong understanding of sequencing, state-based control, interlocks, alarms, and fault handling.

• Experience with control-system testing, debugging, and troubleshooting.

• Ability to read and understand electrical/control-system documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with power-generation systems or rotating equipment controls.

• Experience with alternator protection and synchronization.

• Experience with SCR systems.

• Experience with Simulink PLC Coder.

• Experience with FAT/SAT and field commissioning.

• Experience working with HMI/SCADA systems.
