Venafi TPP Machine Identity Management (MIM) Security Consultant/Contractor

Role Overview

The Venafi TPP Machine Identity Management (MIM) Security consultant provides strategic architecture, advisory, and implementation consulting services to support the Customer’s Venafi TPP Machine Identity Management program. The Consultant delivers best practice driven guidance, hands on configuration, and automation support to ensure a secure, scalable, and operationally efficient certificate and machine identity lifecycle.

This role combines architect mentorship, policy and platform configuration, and application automation enablement, working closely with Customer stakeholders and infrastructure/application owners.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Architecture and Consulting Services

•Conducting recurring retrospective and advisory sessions with Customer stakeholders and Venafi TPP teams to stay aligned with project progress and provide best practice based recommendations.

•Advising on MIM rollout strategy and implementation planning, incorporating Customer goals, technical constraints, and operational readiness.

•Leading discussions on Machine Identity Management maturity, development, and expansion, including governance, administration, and operational ownership for a complete MIM operating model.

•Performing offline review and research of Customer defined requirements to validate design decisions and identify optimization opportunities.

•Providing guidance on prioritization of future outcome based requests, ensuring alignment with security, scalability, and automation objectives.

•Leading discussions and recommendations around roles and responsibilities for managing and administering the Venafi TPP MIM solution.

Certificate Manager – Self Hosted Rebuild & Configuration

The Consultant need to assist the Customer with rebuilding and configuring the Venafi TPP Certificate Manager (Self Hosted) platform to ensure policy consistency and operational success by:

•Designing and configuring the Certificate Manager policy tree, aligned with Customer security and operational requirements.

•Implementing certificate and device policies, workflows, and approval models.

•Configuring discovery jobs to identify certificates, endpoints, and machine identities across the environment.

•Ensuring policy structure and workflows support secure issuance, renewal, revocation, and lifecycle management of certificates.

•Validating configuration readiness to support production usage and future automation.

Automation Assistance for Application Integrations

The Consultant will support the re implementation and optimization of application automation leveraging Venafi TPP MIM capabilities, including:

•Assisting with automation integration for:

•Validating certificate lifecycle automation workflows for supported applications.

•Ensuring integrations align with Customer security standards and operational best practices.

•Supporting troubleshooting and refinement of automation use cases to ensure reliability and scalability.

•Providing recommendations for future automation enhancements and expansion.

Required Skills & Experience:

•Strong expertise in Venafi TPP Machine Identity Management and Certificate Manager (Self Hosted).

•Proven experience designing and implementing certificate lifecycle management, policy structures, and discovery mechanisms.

•Hands on experience integrating certificate automation with F5, IIS, and Apache.

•Strong understanding of PKI, TLS/SSL, machine identities, and enterprise security best practices.

•Ability to provide strategic advisory and architectural mentorship to technical and non technical stakeholders.

•Excellent communication and facilitation skills for leading workshops, retrospectives, and design discussions.
