Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeking a Hardware Engineering Technician working in our R&D Automation Hardware group. This position will include testing proto type units and boards, troubleshooting existing equipment systems and boards and System level compliance scans. As a Hardware Engineering Technician, a typical day might include the following: - Perform basic electronic hardware tests in accordance with defined engineering procedures or guidelines under the direction of engineers or more experienced technicians.
- Build engineering prototypes under the direction of an electrical engineer or experienced technician. Document prototype construction and maintain pertinent engineering records.
- Assist engineers in the evaluation of new electronic components.
- Assemble test fixtures, load banks, and other components common to product development.
- Provide support to engineering staff as needed.
- Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) of modest complexity under the direction of engineers or more experienced technicians.
- Understand. Create. Simplify.
- Other duties as assigned.
This job might be for you if:- Two-year electronic technology or related associate degree
- Working knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits
- Familiarity with modern test equipment
- Familiarity with PLC and setting up or building computers
- Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
- Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
- Background check results satisfactory to SEL
- Negative drug test result(s)
It is a plus if you have:- Familiarity with C and assembly languages
- Experience with O.S. and computer equipment
- Practical knowledge of 3-phase power systems

Pay Range DataWe anticipate filling this position as a Hardware Engineering Technician $ 32.88 - 48.60 per hour. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our pay ranges are determined by job and responsibility. We base our starting pay offer and title on job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
