Job title: Hardware Software Integration Engineer
Location: Foster City, CA (In-Person)
Pay Rate: $78.02/Hour (W2 Contract)
The Mission: You Are the Ultimate Technical Detective
You know that frustrating gap where the software team blames the hardware, and the hardware team swears it's a firmware bug? You are the person who steps in, looks at both, and cracks the case.
We are looking for a Hardware Software Integration Engineer who lives for the thrill of the "first bring-up." If you are a technically curious engineer who gets genuine excitement from watching complex compute, sensor, and networking systems fire up and work perfectly in sync, this is your playground. You will be the technical first responder ensuring an entire fleet of next-generation autonomous vehicles operates predictably and safely.
Why You'll Love Heading to Work Every Day
- See Your Work Move: You aren't just pushing code into a cloud vacuum. You are watching your validation strategies and debugging triumphs directly empower a live, moving vehicle platform.
- Be the Critical Link: You will partner closely with world-class engineering teams-spanning hardware, firmware, software, and fleet operations-to solve high-stakes integration challenges.
- Premium Compensation: Earn an incredible $78.02/hour while working at the absolute forefront of deep-tech innovation in Foster City.
What a Typical Day Looks Like
- Own the Bug, Drive the Fix: Lead and drive the investigation of complex hardware-software issues across vehicle platforms all the way to closure.
- Bring Tech to Life: Support vehicle bring-up, validation, and manufacturing activities for state-of-the-art autonomous compute and sensor suites.
- Automate & Optimize: Write Python scripts and build automation tools to improve debugging efficiency and upgrade test infrastructure.
- Shape the Future Fleet: Use diagnostic and analysis tools to evaluate system performance, and give direct feedback to engineering teams to optimize future product designs.
What You Bring to the Team
Your Core Toolkit:
- Background: A BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field coupled with at least 2+ years of industry experience.
- Root-Cause Mastery: A proven track record of finding the exact breakdown point between HW, FW, and SW layers.
- Hardware Interfacing: Deep comfort with protocols like Ethernet, CAN, USB, UART, LIN, I2C, or SPI and the tools needed to test them.
- Coding & Automation: True fluency in Python (or similar scripting languages) and standard version control tools like Git.
Bonus Points If You Pack:
- Strong EE fundamentals (microcontroller-based systems, high-speed signals, power electronics, or wireless tech like BT/LTE/NFC).
- Hands-on lab experience with schematic design, PCB layout, or lab gear (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers).
- Experience utilizing requirements management systems like Polarion or JIRA.
Ready to Make It Real?
If you have a passion for autonomy, love working with your hands, and are ready to claim ownership over the execution of a world-changing vehicle program, we want to talk to you.
