  Position Overview

  
  

  We are seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer to join a growing transportation team within a large-scale Tribal organization (~$3B). This is a newly created role driven by expansion in capital projects, focusing on roadway design, infrastructure improvements, and transportation planning across multiple locations.

  
  

  This position will serve as a key technical contributor, working closely with leadership and project managers to support high-impact infrastructure initiatives.

  
  

  Key Responsibilities

  
  
  
  
  • Develop, review, and oversee roadway design plans including residential roadways and infrastructure improvements
  
  
  • Support the planning, design, and execution of transportation-related capital projects
  
  
  • Ensure compliance with FDOT standards and other applicable regulations
  
  
  • Provide technical expertise in drainage design, traffic flow, and roadway safety
  
  
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and leadership on project delivery and execution
  
  
  • Perform a mix of hands-on design work and technical reviews
  
  
  
  

  Day-to-Day Activities

  
  
  
  
  • Work closely with PMs on active roadway and infrastructure projects
  
  
  • Contribute to ongoing and upcoming capital improvement initiatives
  
  
  • Balance design execution with plan reviews and technical input
  
  
  
  

  Projects

  
  
  
  
  • Roadway design including residential roads and driveways
  
  
  • Infrastructure projects across multiple locations such as Big Cypress and Lakeland
  
  
  
  

  Team Structure

  
  
  
  
  • Transportation team of approximately 7 members
  
  
  • Includes Director, Project Managers, and Civil Engineers
  
  
  • Recently established as an independent function (previously under Public Works)
  
  
  
  

  Required Qualifications (Must-Have)

  
  
  
  
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license - required (non-negotiable)
  
  
  • 7-12+ years of transportation/civil engineering experience
  
  
  • Strong experience in roadway design (public and/or residential)
  
  
  • Knowledge of drainage, construction practices, and FDOT standards
  
  
  • Hands-on experience with design tools such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, GIS

  • Strong background in transportation engineering and roadway design
  
  
  • Experience working with public sector standards (FDOT)
  
  
  • Practical, hands-on, and solutions-oriented mindset
  
  
  • Comfortable working in a fully onsite environment

  • Up to 25% travel between project locations
