As a Senior Network and Systems Engineer, you will...- Design and implement advanced network solutions, including high-performance networking, software-defined networking (SDN), and cloud networking, focusing on scalability, security, and performance optimization.

- 7 or more years of hands-on experience with advanced networking technologies in an enterprise or research environment.
- 3 or more years in a technical leadership role, focusing on architecting and administering complex network environments.
- Expertise applying automation and orchestration tools for building, configuring, provisioning, and managing network infrastructure.
- Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) platforms like Cisco ACI, VMware NSX, or similar technologies in an operational setting.
- A firm understanding of networking protocols and architectures, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network security protocols.
- Experience leading and motivating a team to deliver results and maintain the highest standards of quality.
- Familiarity with security and regulatory compliance requirements as they pertain to networking, such as NIST RMF, NIST SP 800-53, or DoD 8570/8140.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and present technical information clearly to a wide audience.
- Ability to independently resolve complex problems by applying job knowledge, conducting research, and using external resources.
- Solid understanding of network security principles, including firewall configurations, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and VPN technologies.
- Hold an active Top Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain TS/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
