Overview
Client is seeking an experienced WAMS technical resource with strong backend development skills, SQL expertise, and Unix-based integration capabilities. This contractor will support enhancements, maintenance, and data operations within the current Oracle Utilities Work and Asset Management (WAMS) environment, while also enabling secure file-based integrations to Oracle Cloud.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Oracle Utilities WAM v1.9x, strong data processing and backend skills, and the ability to support existing Unix/Shell automation and file-transfer workflows as they transition toward cloud-based patterns.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain backend processes within Oracle Utilities WAMS v1.9x
- Develop and document reusable patterns for data extraction, transformation, and integration
- Ensure data design supports operational needs, audit controls, and performance requirements
- Support ingestion of GDE datasets into Oracle Autonomous Database (ADB).
- Provide day-to-day technical support, troubleshooting, and data correction across WAMS components
Business Rule Definition & Functional Alignment
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and document WAMS functional processes
- Translate business requirements into technical logic and backend data flows
- Document representations of work orders, labor, materials, and assets within WAMS and ensure alignment to operational workflows
- Support business process mapping by connecting backend design with field and back-office operations
Data Mapping & Integration
- Map WAMS data structures for reporting, analytics, and cloud ingestion needs
- Define transformation logic for exporting WAMS data into CSV, XML, JSON, or other structured formats
- Architect secure and auditable data-exchange workflows leveraging SFTP and Unix-based file movement pipelines
- Support the migration of existing file-transfer processes to Oracle Cloud Object Storage
Development & Technical Requirements
- Develop SQL queries, stored procedures, scripts, and extraction routines for WAMS backend support
- Build and maintain Shell/Unix scripts used for automation, data processing, and secure transfers
- Ensure all integrations follow City Light architectural and security standards
- Troubleshoot backend and integration issues, identify root causes, and implement lasting solutions
Feedback Loop & System Update Management
- Develop or refine processes that interpret cloud ingestion feedback or batch responses
- Create mechanisms to update WAMS with integration results, including reconciliation statuses, error records, and operational flags
- Ensure all backend synchronization components are traceable and auditable
Testing, QA, and UAT Support
- Support system integration testing and backend validation activities
- Prepare test datasets, simulate end-to-end backend scenarios, and assist in triage
- Document technical components thoroughly to ensure production readiness and long-term supportability
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years hands-on experience with Oracle Utilities WAM (preferably v1.9x)
- Strong backend development skillset including SQL, data extraction, and ETL workflows
- Proficiency in Shell scripting, Unix/Linux environments, and secure file-transfer processes (SFTP)
- Experience supporting or migrating file-based integrations to Oracle Cloud Object Storage
- Strong understanding of relational database structures and enterprise data patterns
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in utility operations or asset management environments
- Familiarity with transitioning legacy processing pipelines to cloud-native approaches
- Experience within regulated or municipal utility organizations
- Background in large-scale data automation or backend pipeline development
