Role Overview
We are seeking a Lead Business Continuity Architect to define, lead, and mature enterprise-wide Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery (DR), and Operational Resilience capabilities.
This role provides strategic and technical leadership to ensure critical business services remain available, recoverable, and resilient during technology outages, cyber incidents, third-party failures, and regional disruptions.
The successful candidate will combine expertise in business continuity, disaster recovery architecture, cloud and infrastructure resilience, recovery automation, and operational readiness with the ability to influence enterprise-wide decisions and drive transformational change.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain enterprise Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, and Operational Resilience strategies, standards, governance frameworks, and roadmaps.
- Design and govern DR architectures for critical applications and services across Azure, AWS, hybrid, and on-premises environments.
- Define recovery patterns aligned with Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs), Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs), availability requirements, and application dependencies.
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to conduct Business Impact Analyses (BIA), identify critical services and dependencies, and establish recovery priorities.
- Develop and maintain recovery strategies, playbooks, runbooks, and continuity procedures.
- Lead recovery automation and orchestration, including repeatable failover, failback, validation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and scripting capabilities.
- Guide implementation of high availability, backup, replication, immutable backups, recovery vaults, and secure recovery environments.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to align DR capabilities with cyber recovery and incident response plans.
- Establish DR testing programs and lead tabletop exercises, technical failover tests, resilience exercises, and business continuity simulations.
- Define recovery KPIs, readiness metrics, executive resilience scorecards, and remediation initiatives.
- Ensure resilience practices align with applicable regulatory, audit, risk, and industry requirements.
- Monitor emerging threats, industry trends, and regulatory developments impacting resilience strategies.
- Serve as the enterprise subject matter expert for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, mentor technical teams, and communicate complex resilience concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- 10+ years of technology architecture, infrastructure, resiliency, or operational continuity experience.
- 7+ years leading Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery programs within complex enterprise environments.
- Demonstrated experience developing enterprise resilience strategies and recovery frameworks.
- Experience architecting recovery solutions across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments.
- Experience leading large-scale disaster recovery testing and recovery modernization programs.
- Proven ability to influence executive leadership and drive enterprise-wide initiatives.
