Description
Team is seeking a Nokia PLTE Engineer that has experience with Core Site deployments, not Radio
This resource would work with several project teams aligned to PLTE to ready the Network and prepare for Installation. They will evaluate and assess the current state and they consult on next steps to ready the network. They will perform design reviews and work with Nokia and project teams to deploy.
This position focuses on the design, deployment, and technical
support of a Nokia-based 5G Core and associated
transport networks. The new Private LTE deployment will provide service
throughout Exelon's the Mid-Atlantic service territory. The position will
require the engineer to work at closely with Exelon PLTE RAN Engineering,
Exelon Mid-Atlantic Gas and Electric utilities and with our external
vendors. The PLTE solution is being deployed to support all Exelon
wireless transport use cases. The Engineer will support Operations
complex troubleshooting efforts to address service issues and shape the
architecture for Exelon's 5G Core solution.
They have a strong RAN and MPLS presence
and want this resource focused on the duties/gaps in between those groups.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce
engineering documentation, design standards, and operational procedures in
support of new deployments.
Provide
engineering support for 5G Core signaling, including AMF, SMF, UPF, AUSF, UDM,
PCF, and other service-based architecture
components.
Analyze
and optimize Non-Access Stratum (NAS)
signaling flows, including registration, session management, mobility
management, and security procedures.
Design
and enhance Nokia PLTE 5G Core architectures, ensuring robust signaling paths
and seamless integration with Exelon's MPLS and DWDM networks.
Architect,
implement, and maintain transport networks supporting a wide geographic
footprint, including session resiliency, capacity planning, and end-to-end performance
engineering.
Configure
and troubleshoot Nokia MPLS routing, including OSPF/IS-IS, BGP, LDP, RSVP-TE, QoS, and traffic
engineering across multi-site topologies.
Develop
and maintain scripting and automation tools for LTE/5G monitoring, KPI
collection, alarm correlation, and proactive fault detection.
Perform
deep-dive root cause analysis
for escalated 5G Core and signaling issues, driving long-term corrective actions
and systemic improvements.
Support
new site deployments, transport backhaul integration, and expansion of
distributed 5G/PLTE infrastructure.
Collaborate
with cross-functional teams on lab
validation, feature testing, and vendor coordination for new capabilities and
software releases.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's
degree in engineering (Electrical, Computer, Telecommunications, or related
field).
Hands-on experience with Nokia
5G Core platforms and PLTE deployments.
Strong
expertise in Core signaling and NAS signaling, including registration, PDU
session establishment, mobility, and authentication flows.
Proven
experience with Nokia MPLS routing and transport network design across
distributed geographic areas.
Proficiency
in scripting for LTE/5G monitoring, using languages such as Python, Bash, or
similar for automation, log parsing, KPI extraction, and system health
monitoring.
Ability
to architect and troubleshoot multi-site transport backbones, including redundancy
models, failover strategies, and QoS frameworks.
Experience
supporting or designing 5G /LTE networks.
Familiarity
with virtualization (VMware, KVM), cloud-native network functions, and automation
frameworks.
Strong
analytical and communication skills, with the ability to lead complex
troubleshooting efforts and mentor junior engineers.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.
