Role Summary
The DPS Technical Architect I serves as a technical partner working alongside clinical stakeholders, end users, application teams, and solution architects. This individual evaluates business requirements, defines technical strategies, and ensures solutions align with enterprise architecture and interoperability goals.
The role requires specialization in a defined technical area (integration/interoperability) and focuses on delivering secure, scalable, and high-quality healthcare technology solutions.
The ideal candidate will contribute to delivering a remarkable patient experience while adhering to safety, security, and high-reliability standards.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary technical lead for a defined integration domain.
Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
Design and support HL7-based integrations and interoperability solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design workflows and integration roadmaps.
Maintain interface inventory, documentation, and data flow diagrams.
Support system build, implementation, and ongoing technical operations.
Perform routine audits of integration processes and ensure best practices.
Work with vendors to craft and validate interoperability solutions meeting regulatory and business requirements.
Mentor and guide developers on HL7 standards and integration methodologies.
Participate in escalations, including after-hours support when required.
Ensure adherence to information security principles (least privilege, least functionality, incident awareness).
Required Skills & Qualifications
Epic Bridges Certification (Required)
Intermediate knowledge of HL7 standards and integration architecture
Strong understanding of healthcare interoperability workflows
Experience translating business needs into technical solutions
Knowledge of IT design principles and architecture best practices
Basic familiarity with IT frameworks (ISO, COBIT, ITIL)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to create technical diagrams (data flow, process, logical, physical)
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to collaborate, influence, and think strategically
Leadership and mentoring capability
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with InterSystems HealthConnect
Familiarity with FHIR
Knowledge of architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, IASA)
Certifications such as: TOGAF-9, CITA-F, ITIL-F, COBIT-5, CISSP-ISSAP (or equivalent
