Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Hadoop / HPE MapR Engineer to support and enhance large-scale enterprise data platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong experience administering Hadoop ecosystems, managing distributed systems, and supporting production-grade clusters in complex enterprise environments.
This role will focus on ensuring the reliability, scalability, security, and performance of Hadoop-based platforms while collaborating with engineering teams to deliver robust data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain Hadoop and HPE MapR-based data platforms.
- Support enterprise-scale distributed systems and data processing environments.
- Monitor cluster performance and troubleshoot production issues.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and operational efficiency of Hadoop clusters.
- Perform Linux/Unix system administration and platform maintenance.
- Support batch and stream processing workloads using Apache Spark.
- Collaborate with engineering and infrastructure teams to optimize platform performance.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and operational best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across large-scale environments.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience in Hadoop Administration, Big Data Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with Hadoop ecosystems.
- Experience with HPE MapR administration and support.
- Strong Linux/Unix administration skills.
- Experience supporting enterprise production clusters.
- Working knowledge of Apache Spark.
- Experience with Python, Java, Scala, or Bash scripting.
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
- Understanding of distributed systems and cluster computing concepts.
Preferred Skills
- Cloudera or Hortonworks experience.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Grafana, or Prometheus.
- Knowledge of data storage architectures and high-availability environments.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting large-scale Hadoop environments in production.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex platform and performance issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience working in enterprise environments with compliance and operational standards.
