Job Title: Data Center Hardware Specialist (Physical Repair & Analysis)

This role focuses exclusively on the physical restoration and failure analysis of data center hardware. Unlike a traditional IT tech, this person does not perform software troubleshooting. They are responsible for inspecting, documenting, and physically repairing damaged server components-specifically focusing on "Level 1" physical defects.

Key Responsibilities

Physical Damage Inspection: Use high-resolution DSLR cameras and microscopes to document physical damage to motherboards, CPU sockets, and server racks.

Precision Repair: Handle delicate repairs, such as cleaning and realigning CPU sockets and replacing damaged physical components.

Diagnostic Testing: Operate specialized hardware (like memory testers) to determine if parts like RAM are reusable or should be scrapped.

Logistics & Scrap Management: Sort failed hardware into "Reusable" or "Scrap" (recycling) categories and manage the flow of parts to the logistics area.

Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of failures using G Suite (Google Drive, Slides, Sheets) to report common hardware trends to engineering teams.

Technical Skills Required

Hardware Anatomy: Deep knowledge of server components (Motherboards, Racks, Switches, RAM, CPU Sockets).

A+ Knowledge: A strong understanding of computer architecture (CompTIA A+ equivalent).

Precision Tools: Experience using DSLR cameras for macro photography and digital microscopes for pin-level inspections.

Documentation: Proficiency in G Suite/Google Workspace (Slides for presentations, Drive for file management).

What This Role IS NOT

It is not a software/network troubleshooting role.

It is not a remote position (100% hands-on in the data center).

It does not involve OS installation or coding.
