About the Role
Our client, a leading national retail corporation known for its expansive brick-and-mortar footprint and innovative digital commerce platforms, is seeking a skilled Development Engineer to join their technology team. This role supports a cutting-edge forecasting application that drives key business decisions across the organization. The position offers a hybrid schedule, with 2–3 days onsite per week, providing a balance of in-person collaboration and remote flexibility.
Job Description
As a Development Engineer, you will play a critical role in providing Guidance Data for use in an advanced forecasting application. You will design and build robust REST APIs, optimize database performance, and contribute to schema design that supports large-scale data operations. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment and enjoys solving complex technical challenges.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing and maintaining REST APIs to support a forecasting application.
  • Designing, implementing, and optimizing PostgreSQL database schemas.
  • Performing performance tuning to ensure scalability and efficiency.
  • Processing and manipulating Excel spreadsheets using libraries such as Apache POI.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality technical solutions.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience developing REST APIs.
  • Strong proficiency in Java.
  • Extensive experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and performance tuning.
  • Ability to work onsite 2–3 days per week.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Kotlin.
  • Proficiency in processing and manipulating Excel spreadsheets using libraries such as Apache POI.
