Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer IV to provide onsite support for critical refinery control systems. This role will focus on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), with a primary emphasis on Siemens S7 PLC platforms supporting refinery operations.

Key Responsibilities :

• Support and maintain DCS systems, including system health monitoring, database integrity, server patching, backups, graphics, alarms, and point configuration.
• Troubleshoot and support PLC systems, primarily Siemens S7 and Allen-Bradley platforms.
• Provide SIS support, including annual testing coordination, lifecycle management, inventory tracking, FAT participation, and logic validation.
• Assist with routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Support third-party control devices and integrations, including data transfer logic and non-control system interfaces.
• Maintain control system network infrastructure, including IP address governance, server support, thin clients, and wireless I/O systems.
• Generate alarm metrics, PARR reports, and system alerts.
• Execute work in accordance with Management of Change (MOC) processes.
• Support control system upgrades, obsolescence planning, reliability improvements, and minor project execution.
• Perform functional testing and validation of control system changes.
• Provide on-call support as needed to ensure system reliability and rapid issue resolution.

Required Qualifications :

• Hands-on experience with Siemens S7 PLC systems.
• Experience supporting refinery, manufacturing, or industrial DCS/SIS/PLC environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and control systems support background.
• Ability to work onsite in Salt Lake City, UT for the duration of the assignment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC systems.
• Knowledge of process safety standards and MOC procedures.
• Experience with lifecycle management, upgrades, and reliability initiatives in industrial environments.

Additional Information

• Standard onsite work schedule at the Salt Lake Refinery.
• Potential for limited remote work after the initial onsite period based on business needs.
• Fly-in/fly-out arrangements are not permitted.
