About the Role
We’re looking for a senior data platform architect (DBA 4) to design and run a modern cloud Lakehouse built on a Medallion (Bronze, Silver, Gold) architecture. You’ll build automated ELT pipelines, design the data models behind self-service BI, and own data governance and cataloging in Alation. You’ll also mentor peers and junior staff.

What You’ll Do

• Design and maintain automated ELT pipelines (SQL, Python, and cloud data tools) that move data incrementally through the Medallion layers
• Tune queries and compute for heavy transformation workloads on modern cloud data platforms
• Migrate legacy databases and files into automated Lakehouse ingestion pipelines
• Set standards, schemas, and file formats (Iceberg, Parquet) for ingestion and data lake processing
• Design dimensional models (facts, dimensions, star schemas) and semantic layers that support self-service BI
• Build data models that handle semi-structured data (JSON, API payloads) alongside structured data, with version-controlled data contracts
• Curate the Alation Data Catalog and map end-to-end data lineage from source systems to Gold-layer reports
• Design data validation and quality frameworks at the Bronze-to-Silver boundary
• Implement data warehouses, data marts, dashboards, and enterprise reporting
• Document pipelines, architecture, and standards, and mentor team members

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years designing and implementing enterprise data warehouse, data lake, or Lakehouse solutions
• Expert-level SQL, including query optimization, performance tuning, and complex analytical datasets
• Automated ELT pipeline development using Python, SQL, and modern cloud data platforms
• Hands-on Snowflake experience across data engineering, warehousing, and analytics
• Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) design and management
• Advanced dimensional modeling and semantic layer design
• Experience integrating structured and semi-structured sources: APIs, JSON, and file-based ingestion
• Hands-on administration of enterprise data catalog and governance platforms such as Alation
• Experience with data governance, metadata management, lineage, and data quality frameworks
• Data migration and modernization experience
• Ability to define technical standards and architecture documentation, and to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives
• Excellent communication skills with technical teams, business stakeholders, and executives

Preferred Qualifications

• Snowflake cloud-native features: Warehouses, Snowpark, Streams, Tasks, and secure data sharing
• Data modeling tools such as ER Studio and modern modeling methodologies
• Agile or iterative delivery experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering, or a related field
